Bar's Leaks 1177 Radiator Stop Leak Tablets, 1.76oz

I’ve used Bars leak brand over the years for a couple of emergency's. They always performed as intended. I bought these to carry in my tail bag on my adventure bike. The last thing I need is a leaky radiator or cracked radiator out in the middle of nowhere. I used them years ago in a Jeep when a leak was developed on a trail. Crumble them up, add water and you’re back in business. I bought these as a preventative measure and would recommend them to anyone venturing off the beaten path.

Listen I’m told GM private labeled this and was dumping this into cars nearly on the factory lines in the 90s/2000s. Gasketing technology has come a long way. Old cars especially as they age get harder to seal. You show me how to get your nice molded silicone gasket to seal against 25 year old pitted aluminum and I’ll wait. And I’ll watch you struggle. And I’ll watch you eventually smear RTV into the equation begrudgingly, as you no longer get to do it the “factory” way. In the meantime I’ll drop a few of these in my old junk and avoid nuisance leaks while you experience that faint whiff of coolant every once in a while. Or chase your tail at the shop or your home garage because you insist on being Mr perfect until your wife is tired of it and you end up taking a loan for a new ride. All because you’re convinced this will clog your heater core solid. Bro, I’m toasty warm all winter. But what is plugged is that tiny leak that’s between you and a 16 hour job on two weekends pulling your dash out for a heater core.

Bar's Leaks 1177 Radiator Stop Leak Tablets may work for certain types of radiator leaks, but it will not seal plastic tank or rubber seal leaks. The radiator in my GM vehicle was leaking where the plastic tank is crimped onto the aluminum radiator core, and since the job to replace the radiator takes about 5-6 hours, I thought I would give Bar's Leak a try. Much to my dismay, it did not perform as I hoped it would. Lesson learned.

I'm shocked that a $4 fix like this works. I had a substantial coolant leak on my Ram 1500 and two tabs of this seems to have sealed it right up. Like others mentioned this gets messy during shipping so definitely order it separately if you can. You don't want to have other items in the same package.
