Gitane DG-255 Professional Gypsy Jazz Guitar

I had a DG-500 for a while, but I found it did not have the rasp, bite and projection of a true gypsy jazz guitar. I came across a few of these DG-255 in shops, and I felt that they were much nearer to the sound that I had heard. I felt that some of the older ones did not seem to be as good as the newer ones - they seemed much heavier, for starters. I ended up seeing this one online and decided to buy it. Wow! I was so glad that I did, because in the meantime, Gitane have really upped their game. They tops, for example, are much higher quality, and this instrument really sings out! Even the laminations that they now do on the inside of the guitar are authentic to the original Selmer models that Django played (you can tell this nowadays, as there are videos of them being examined on youtube. I ended up buying this one and John J model. Both are extremely high quality, but I wonder if this one has even brighter, more cutting, sound and projection to the JJ model. The workmanship both inside and outside the guitar is incredibly clean and beautifully realised. Even the sanding is very, very, fine work. I am extremely pleased with the quality of the workmanship of this instrument. The sound is also really authentic. I would highly recommend this product.
