Great piece of kit.
Yes, you can hear the fan in quiet environment. That's the negative. Positives are: I was running large games out of it and I was able to move them between PC and Laptop. After hours of playing the device was warm. To compare my fanless case was at this point to hot to handle. Works beautifully with steamdeck. Due to the small physical size and speed it's perfect storage extension option for portable devices. Installation was very simple and I was up and ready in the matter of minutes.

Great buy
Did exactly what it said..!👍

Bad quality
The design quality is poor, the fan is very noisy, and the protective shell does not hold closed, let alone waterproof. I do not recommend this product.

Crazy loud fan - and no way to turn it off?
Generally, a well-designed product. It all fits well, etc. Just a few quirks.1. That little fan is LOUD, and has an incredibly annoying pitch. I just can't understand why I couldn't turn it off.2. The case is cute, but... Kinda defeats the purpose if I have it on with the fan going, as it will block airflow completely. it also just doesn't feel that good. The plastic feels kinda cheap, the door just comes out immediately if you touch it, the rubber is WAY too flexible IMO. I find the case quite forgettable, and see it only as something to put the drive in for transport, but to never use it.. I think a retractable USB-C port would make more sense instead of the USB-C sticking out as it is now. Maybe that's a durability consideration, but with that, I might've considered just using it without the case, as SSDs are quite tough anyways.3. The USB-C connector is really nice, but WHY oh WHY is it not a touch longer, so that it can also bridge a thin phone case, for example? It really only works if you have 0 obstructions around the port and some for the case, which might not always be the case. Even just 3mm extra or so, like many connectors give you, would have been sufficient.Because of this, you might have a lot of times that you're forced to use the USB cable after all...I don't know, I'm not quite convinced.Edit: all of the above still stands, but I've grown a bit more used to it. I do love the size, and the fan IS a bit endearing, and it does seem to do its job. So that's good :)

The perfect device for Network Engineers
I got this device to run my Mac OS on an external drive and while it does a great job of doing just that (that snap when it locks into the back of my 27" iMac was very satisfying) the fan is a big issue it is noisy it's a shame However, this would perfect in a server environment it small built like a tank and comes with a rubber outer that keeps any knocks down to a minimum. Its write and read speeds are surprisingly good and the reviews don't show it justice. I look forward to Version 2 with a fan curve or better still a Noctua collab then every YouTuber would be mad not to have one.
