A New Hope (Star Wars Episode IV: Read-Along) Paperback – 10 Feb. 2015

Says from age 3+ on the book, and my 4.5yr old loves it! However, he is familiar with the Star Wars stories and has A New Hope 'easy reader' childrens book and so knows the plot. If he didn't then I think he would find this version difficult to follow with the book as the audio is quite fast paced and there is a lot of text on each page and he can't read much yet. Regarding the story; the plot is obviously shortened, as you would expect for a children's book, but it does stick fairly well to the main points of the film,( although I'm sure die-hard Star Wars fans would find parts missing that they think should've been included!). The cd is fine, and has different voices for each character (unlike some audio books) and a 'turn the page' tone which is useful. It lasts approx 17mins, so is perfect for settling him down before bed. We will definitely be buying the second and third in the series when they are released as they serve a purpose for us with a Star Wars obsessed boy, however they are not particularly high quality productions, either the book or the audio, hence only 4 star rating.

My boys (ages 4, 4 an 6) like listening to this, and I enjoyed it too - the voices are quite good (what a bonus to have the real C3PO introduce it!) and, as ever, the John Williams music just makes the story so moving and exciting. We ordered Empire Strikes Back, too - it's so pleasing to have these releases in the wake of Disney purchasing the franchise (you can look at it as exploitation of a product, but there are some lovely products featuring the original/best Star Wars trilogy now out there (kids party tableware that seems too precious for eating off, surely!)).We like story CDs because it's a bit like Radio for kids, the boys put on what they fancy, when they want to, and gather round, just listening, entranced, for the duration.

General story line is the same but I’m guessing for copyright reasons some of it has been changed slightly and the voiceovers are TERRIBLE! My husband and me were laughing so much as this. Yoda is suddenly Chinese
