Don’t duck this classic movie!
I love westerns, but for some reason it’s taken me 40 years to get around to watching this classic. For some reason it doesn’t get the same publicity and other westerns. Having said that, it was well worth waiting for because everything about this film is 1st class. It starts off in an almost light hearted way but takes on a darker, more serious note half way through. The acting is brilliant. I love James Coburn and the development of his character, along with Rod Steiger’s makes for captivating watching. The story and mood is further enhanced with an amazing musical score by Ennio Morricone, especially ‘Inventions For John’. I’d put the soundtrack right up there with The Good The Bad and The Ugly. An equally excellent supporting cast, fantastic sets and locations with a strong storyline make this film a must for any Leone fans. It won’t disappoint

Leone is too good
Another Leone gem of a film here. Originally called 'Once Upon A Time In the Revolution' it is part of the 'Once Upon A Time...' trilogy with the others being 'Once Upon A Time In America' and 'Once Upon A Time In The West'. Both of which are excellent. This film starts off at a very slow pace and picks when Juan (Steiger) is in the back of a fancy wagon. The dialogue and camera shots in this scene are fantastic. The film steps up again when John (Coburn) arrives on the scene. From then on the film grips you, going from one scene to the next, and the final scene is fantastic, with Juan's (Steiger's) face darkened in a classic Leone shot.Steiger is not very convincing and his accent is a bit annoying, but don't let this put you off. The suporting cast are excellent and Coburn plays a complex character extremely well and unlike any Western character seen before.Morrricone's score is good, but not his best. Still, not his best is usually still brilliant and the music 'Sean, Sean' does grow on viewers ear's.The extra's are pretty good - a decent documentary about 'the myth of revolution' being the highlight. This film is a classic and a pretty insightful film too.

Dynamite!
In my humble opinion a great film by a director on top of his game.I first saw the shortened version on TV years ago, and thought it was brilliant. Now with this fully restored version, its even better. What I had forgotten was the wry sense of humour which pervades this film, especially in the first half, up until the 'bank raid', when after that the seriousness of its subject matter takes over. However what takes you through this film is the two main characters and the interplay between them, plus Juan (Rod Stiger's character),becoming the reluctant hero of the revolution. Its a more subtle fim, than the 'man with no name' trilogy, and marks Sergio Leonie's shift to a more complicated narrative and it demands more from the viewer, but I would argue is all the better for it. He repeats this interplay of main charcters in Once upon a time in the West, and finally Once upon a Time in America, which his is 'Masterwerk'.All I can say, is at the price I paid for it, the quality of its reproduction, plus the extras, never mind how good the film is itself, makes this DVD a bargain. If your a Leonie fan its a must for your collection, if you curious, buy it anyway, you'll not be dissapointed, and if you like it, I suspect like me, will end up watching it on rainy days, when you have a few hours to spare and want to lose yourself in a great movie.

Dynamite
Both Rod Steiger and James Coburn give explosive performances in this sadly underrated Sergio Leone zapata western movie set during Mexico's bloody 1910s revolution. Backed by one of Ennio Morricone's finest musical scores, Leone explores futility which often manifests itself in popular revolts. This action packed western sees Steiger's common bandit and Coburns on the run IRA explosive expert characters forge an unlikely friendship whilst becoming accidental heroes of the revolution which is fueled bloody betrayal.

Fantastic Film and not such a bad edit really.
One of Sergio Leone's best films and an excellent Ennio Morricone score! How can you go wrong? Plus great performances by James Coburn and Rod Steiger to boot. This really was a dream production but has been chopped up over the years and then variously restored. At least three major versions exist. This version is one of my favorites but I when I watch it I like to augment it with the longer Italian (Japanese 2003 DVD release) and most especially the ending from the Italian version. The US 'Duck, You Sucker' version from 2007 is another one of my favorite versions and even further restored, making it longer than the Italian version but I'd really like to see elements from these three versions combined - with the hope that English dialogue exists somewhere for some of the Italian version. At any rate, this is such a great story with such great acting, direction and music that you can't really go wrong with this 2004 UK version.

A Fistful of Entertainment!
If you like the dollar movies you will like this film. Great interplay between Rod Steiger and James Coburn, fast paced and different focus with the 1913 Mexican revolution as the story driver. It’s directed by Sergio Leone and music by Ennio Morricone - how can it be a bad film!

A Fistful Of Dynamite (Special Edition).
Not part of the “Dollars Trilogy”, rather, part of the unofficial “Once Upon A Time Trilogy” by Leone, with Rod Steiger and James Coburn as the leads, the story set during the Mexican Revolution; it's a long and epic film based more on the developing friendship of the two protagonists rather than depicting the actual events of the revolution itself; infused with the wry humour one expects from Leone, it nevertheless contains moments of pathos and the fairly graphic violence that tended to trouble American distributors.Perhaps an underrated film – but not by me.This 2-disc special edition presents the first full version of the film in a very acceptable digital transfer and an audio commentary from Chris Frayling; the second disc has a decent raft of extras supporting the feature; English subtitles are available.
