There is some padding but the majority of the bumper is a a very lightly soft padded mesh. This bumper is best used for closing the gap in the rails of. Crib and having that gap still be breathable. **Q: How this is suppose to protect the baby's head when bumping into to the solid sides since bumper isn't covering sides?** A: It's not meant to protect the babies head. It is meant to prevent the babies arms and legs from getting between the slots. It's not a cushioned bumper. It is a thin breathable fabric. **Q: Will this fit a crib with the changing table attached? I only have one solid end on the crib** A: It shoul, please look at the measurements. **Q: Will this keep baby's leg from getting stuck between the slats?** A: That's why I bought it and I found that it did work to prevent the legs getting stuck.
