Lee Precision Quick Trim Die 308 Win

Screw it into the press all the way, insert case into case holder and move case into die. Insert quick trim into top of die and trim case. Simple and fast. This die works efficiently and quickly. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to quickly trim their cases to the correct length.

I just started reloading.308 Win and knew I’d eventually have to trim the cases to length, then they need to be chamfered and de-burred. I watched some YouTube videos and decided to get the Lee Deluxe Power Quick Trim Case Trimmer, which trims, chamfers and de-burrs all in one step (it’s rotated by a drill or battery screwdriver). It’s quick, easy and consistent. You place a case in a shell holder, raise the ram into the die and run the trimmer for a few seconds and you’re done. A lot of the brass trimmings fall into the case but you just invert It and tap those out. I Think it’s the best method to trim cases fast and inexpensively. Unless you’re into high precision marksmanship where you’re turning down the necks, this method will work just fine for you. Lee products are some of the cheapest out there but they always work well and produce quality results for me.

I have owned and operated a machine shop for 33 years and am a bit OCD over thousandths of an inch increments, where I am used to working within tenths of a thousandth tolerances. I have owned many both automated size/trim machine, plus multiple brands of other manually operated or power driven trimmers; some witt collets, others with chucks. For the small production, DYI reloader; this die type, coupled with the deluxe hand trimmer is the Biggest Bang for your Buck. I sized 100 308 cases in seconds each. All came out after initial setting, within .0005". Personally; I am fond of " the feel" when machining certain objects, even when I used to be Class VI commercial vendor. I/E-hand priming brass, hand trimming precision brass. bullet seating and crimp. Lee quality has really come up-Fresh ideas-Functional-Still Affordable.

Initially I encountered the exact same issue as many here - the shell would not fit easily into the die. I followed the instruction that I found on here with the caveat that I lubed the shell first and then just applied more pressure. Worked like a champ and after the initial deflowering, it works smoothly.

Works well but the hand crank tool can be kind of cumbersome, a little dab of axle grease on the inside worked wonders for this tool.

Turns a tedious job into a simple quick task. Great tool for anyone who does this hobby.

I've reviewed this and a couple of other cartridge trimmers on youtube and I swear by this.This is the .308 die for the Lee Quick Trim Deluxe....inexpensive and built like a soviet tank. WORTH buying for you QTD. Using this and your reloader you can trim to length and bevel the cartridge lips at the same time. Easy to use and quick.

With correct inner tooling (that I have) it all works great

For just a few bucks you can trim all casings to within a few thou of each other. This die combined with the Lee bullet seating die make each round very consistent and reliable.

Works great for small batches, if volume is needed I would look for something faster but accuracy of the trim lenght is spot on within a couple thousand everytime
