This chess set is an absolute gem! I ordered it for my 8-year-old, who’s really gotten into chess and checkers, and it exceeded expectations. The board is beautiful—sleek and classic—and it looks so nice displayed on our bookshelf when not in use.I love that it folds up neatly with all the pieces stored inside, which makes cleanup super easy and keeps everything organized. The pieces feel solid and well-made, not flimsy like some kid sets. Good quality, magnets hold the chest pieces very well. It’s easy to travel with not very large so it’s portable pieces store. Well quality is good. This item is very well. Designed 15 inches is perfect for HS set.

Nice travel set with a soft suede board. Good magnets keep the pieces on the board so you can easily play in the car or plane. The pieces are made of a nice quality piece wood. Really a good quality set for travel chess set. Includes pieces for both chess and checkers.

Let’s get the cons out of the way: You can see in photos, I’m pretty sure I received a display item because the dark squares and numerals on the white side of the board are sun-faded. Considering the monochromatic embossing of the leather board already isn’t a huge contrast (like black/white, or brown/white) it’s a difference of light brown to slightly less light brown, so I may try exchanging it for a newer board. Even if the squares were all consistent, in general I wish there was a bigger difference in light to dark squares.When open, the board is not perfectly flat so the fold seam (middle of the board) sits off the table than the top and bottom edges - but this doesn’t bother me and the magnets hold the pieces in place anyway.The pros: Fresh out of the box the wood pieces feel like quality. Good size for a travel set and the magnets hold well. the leather case itself feels like a good quality and holds the pieces well even if not perfectly flat. I also really appreciate that the numerals and “darker” squares are embossed versus painted, this gives them a permanence that i think painted leather would eventually start to look chipped and faded, but I do wish there was a little deeper contrast.This is a nice sleek alternative to wooden travel boards at the price point and I highly recommend it. I got the brown board because all the color options only come with light beige and dark brown pieces, I like pieces to match the boards so by default had to go with this color, but otherwise I would have much preferred the blue board or the grey board if there were white and blue pieces with the blue board, and white/black pieces with the grey board. But that’s just my personal preference.

Shipping was really quick. The board itself feels nice. A few imperfections in the leather but nothing noticeable unless looking for it. The pieces are weighted right as well. A couple of the black pieces during shipping had their magnets and felt bottom dislodged but was easily put back in( the magnets and felt were on other pieces). Plays great. Since it doesn’t come with extra queens I used the checkers for pawn promotions. The letters and numbers are very prominent for both sides. With it being 12 inches it allows for compact game play but doesn’t make the pieces hard to grab. Overall this board is a bargain. Would be great for chess players of all ages that are looking for a decent board that can travel with them.

I bought this as a gift and I must get another for myself. So pretty. Perfect travel size- not too small and def not too big. Great magnets and the board is so pretty!

Son loves this. Brings it whenever we travel. He loves being able to play with us, friends and family while we travel. The pieces hold well to the board, they store easily. I would buy it again.
