I had a 3 lb from the same company with a handle that was about 6 in shorter. Getting this one instead gave me that extra leverage and the extra pound I needed to generate the force to split logs. The rubber grip makes it easy to hold on to and it does the job. I would recommend this company.

This is one of my two Estwing sledges I use for taking rock samples for research. I’m thoroughly impressed with the quality, having tried several other brands in the past. The balance on this hammer is excellent and it is comfortable to hold even when wailing on rocks in the hot summer sun. I would recommend this to anyone looking to split rocks in the name of science (or whatever else you split rocks for).

Excellent hammer and love the quality. Left off a star because the handle is plenty long. 4” shorter would be a lot nicer as a good shop hammer

I like the quality of the construction, handle has just a touch of flex and the size is good for most middling jobs. You can use it one handed if you need to, just choke up a bit if it feels too heavy. Good value.
