Great quality barley, cooks up nice and has a good taste.

Pot Barley is my new favorite grain - tastes like real food instead of the highly-processed grains I grew up with & expect in most modern cooking. It's also got the highest beta-glucan content of most standard grains, which can help with insulin & activate GLP-1... I certainly feel less hungry after a huge breakfast bowl of this slow-cooker prepped: you can get over 8oz of something that's a lot like steel-cut oatmeal for only 160 calories.I always feel like I get great quality fresh foods from this company, so they're my new go-to for grains.My only regret is that I can't get their bulk bags down here in the US!

I couldnt find hulled barley at a decent price and pearled barley removes too much of the good stuff (and good flavor). I thought I would try this (Pot Barley). They are polished and remove some of the outer coating goodness, but not as much as pearled. The texture when cooked is like that of pearled barley, but it has more flavor. I like my barley unpolished with all the raw goodness that nature intended, but if you want the softer texture of pearled barley but with more of the healthy part and flavor intact, I think this is a good choice. It cooks well and quickly.

It's really hard to find pot barley in the stores (pot barley has most of the grain, while other barleys have less of it or none). Forget supermarkets - my local Safeway doesn't even carry pearl barley any longer. That's why I order pot barley online. Yupik has the best price so far, and the barley itself couldn't be finer. I've placed a couple of orders so far and everything has gone well. I recommend.
