The media could not be loaded. Bought this to replace a metal lid that I used on my 12" cast iron pan. Cook steak at very high heat most days and the old lid was very messy and steamed my steaks. This new cover is very light and let's the Steam and smoke escape but keeps the grease splatter within. Easy to clean just run under the hot tap and wiped with kitchen roll. Can't comment on longevity but hopefully it will last.

The guard is fantastic, very sturdy and so easy to clean. Because of its design, it can also be used as a cake cooling rack. Genious

Wanted something to try and stop the fat spitting all over my wooden worktop which our job is built into. Never had much success before but this is brilliant. Great coverage and easy to clean. A bit frightening at first as with best will change shape slightly, but it definitely does it job and I can see it is going to last a lot longer than the all metal ones.

I’m probably being a bit hard on this item as the main purpose I bought it for was to act as a fat splatter guard when frying fatty food on my electric stove. To be fair, it has some other useful applications for which it is better suited. However this has required the holes in the guard to be bigger than I had expected from the picture I saw and it does not protect the stove from fat splatter as good as my old mesh guard did. Furthermore due to its opaque nature you are tempted to lift it up more regularly than you might otherwise to check the status of the cooking which increases the risk of splatter or even a burn. Overall quite disappointed as it’s not particularly cheap and more dedicated cheaper mesh guards will probably do the job I bough it for so much better. I will keep it as it has other useful purposes but I’ll be getting a mesh guard for frying. UPDATE: 29th Sept: I have to admit that after using this device more often and also in a number of wider applications I would accept that I was way too harsh in my initial judgment. Even in terms of its ability as a fat splatter guard it is actually proving to be better than I had originally thought. I have upgraded my star rating from 2 to 4 stars to fairly reflect this and now find I have no need to buy an alternative splatter guard.
