Great Scratch Awl
Another great tool from Klein. The scratch awl is well made and built to last a lifetime. It comes with an extremely sharp point and seems to keep a decent point on it provided it’s not abused.

Great tool!
Great tool. Didn't realize how handy it would be. Great for marking and indenting a hole to drill or screw. Love that it's made in the USA.

Klein Scratch awl
Great tool, but then again, Klein products are always quality. Very nice scratch awl that will last for many years, if not a lifetime.

Great for starting drill holes
Another fine Klein product. It gives a firm grip on the scratch awl due to the excellent handle. Now I can put a dent in the exact spot I need to start my screw-hole. That's critical when you're installing hinges, or anything that requires multiple screws.

Will do for most, I guess.
This is a scratch awl, and if that's all you use it for, I am sure it will do an adequate job. The shaft's steel is relatively hard but it's more likely to bend than break so there may be times when it will be hard to get a visible scratch on steel. Personal I've used my old awl for more "off prescription" tasks than as a scratch awl. I would trade the very comfortable vinyl handle for a thru shaft design in a heartbeat. I want to be able to hammer on a scratch awl just like I been able to do with my old awl for more than 40 years. If and when I find my trusted old tool, I will retire this new one.
