Sharp Blades
Not great for cutting beading 22.5 mitre angles probably better off getting a mitre box. Can’t fault it for cutting anything else. Can’t think of a tool that could do it any quicker..!

Shears work well with lightweight materials
I got these mitre shears to use to cut the plastic diffuser strip that clips into recessed aluminium channel for fitting LED strip lights under kitchen cabinets.I was able to use these shears to effortlessly match the angle of the mitred ends of the aluminium channel then cut straight through the plastic diffuser strip in one clean cut.I like the fact the shears come with an extra blade. I expect with a decent whetstone you could quite easily resharpen the blades, too.The safety lock works well. The shears are comfortable to hold. The angle is easy to adjust - though my one suggestion would be for a way to lock the angled plate in place for repeated cuts at the same angle. Because the angled plate uses detents to "snap" to certain angles, if you need an in-between angle, there's a risk it could get knocked to the nearest angle detent. A locking screw of some sort would prevent this happening.

Good DIY tool
The media could not be loaded. I ordered these because, quite frankly, I was curious. I own and use a lot of tools but I have never seen these before. I was sceptical and thought these might be a bit gimmicky but I was wrong. These are very sharp and are designed to trim lengths of wood or plastic at specific angles. There is a small platform on which the material is place and the angle is set by a moving arm. The arm can be changed from 135 degrees to 45 degrees in 15-degree increments. If you need angles in between those then you probably need a more expensive tool.I cut some 5mm soft wood with these and the did a Stirling job, leaving a really clean, straight cut. I should say though that they do need quite a strong squeeze to get them fully through. I can imagine these being really useful for conduit work in a house where lots of 45-degree angles would be needed to go around corners and door frames etc.I won't be using these professionally, I just have them around in case I need them. They are now on my tool board with the rest of my faithful friends.

Mitre shears
These shears are great for softer materials, rubber, foams and even softwood is possible to cut. These will also cut plastic cable trunking.I've used these on a small softwood beading that would have been difficult to cut on a mitre saw, they cut cleanly but were a bit of a struggle on the old hands. The guide is adjustable to 22.5/45 and 90 degrees plus 112.5 and 135 degrees, these positions are all lockable and are marked on the shears. The cutting is performed by a very sharp blade, there is also a spare blade supplied with the shears. The handles on these shears are rubberised to aid grip, the shears are also lockable for storage purposes.Just be certain to keep these shears out of the reach of children.Overall, whilst these shears seem limited they have there uses and have a place in m toolbox.

Does the job with minimal effort.
I get through quite a lot of small section, rectangular plastic trunking and these shears cut through it very easily. If the plastic you’re cutting is brittle, you may get cracks when you cut due to the pressure of the blade, even though it is quite sharp. If you cut wood with these shears the end grain ends up with a very smooth, polished appearance. I tried cutting small picture frame mouldings with it, but the unusual shape meant that the wood splintered where it was unsupported under the blade. A simpler shaped section of wood would probably work much better. There is no play in the blades and the tool looks to be well manufactured. The angle guide clicks into place securely but is still easy to adjust to a new position. It shouldn’t accidentally move out of place. The handles are a bit on the small side; I don’t have big hands, but it still feels like the handles need to be bigger for a comfortable fit, the tool feels a bit front heavy, and I can only just get all four fingers on them.A plus point for this product is that there is minimal plastic used in the packaging, just a cardboard box with a small plastic sleeve holding the spare blade. The tool and spare blade both have a good coating of oil to prevent corrosion in storage.Despite a few issues, I’d still recommend the tool.

Not as good as they should be (according to the advert)...
Have to say that my first impression on opening the box was that these sheers were a cheaper version of what SHOULD have been in there. No bag/packaging, the inside of the box and the tool itself stained with excess oil, not really a good start!.The overall finish is nowhere near what the 'enhanced' advert photos would have you believe. They're pretty rough in places, and the 3 allen screws were barely in place... 2 of which have coil springs underneath them, so these could have been lost very easily. After tightening them up (no allen keys are included incidentally, you need a 2.5mm AND a 3mm), the adjustable head felt a lot better. The blade is very sharp, so hopefully it will cut through the pretty lightweight plastic stuff I'll be using them for. There's also a spare blade included in the box.The rotatable guide does stay in place (after the tightening) when you've set it at the required angle, but you must do this by turning both sides at the same time.If you try turning it using one side only, there's a chance that 1 of the 2 lock-pins won't locate properly, creating an angle which is out by a few degrees from that selected. All in all it's not a great product, but it'll do for the jobs that don't require high precision (if a precision/non-DIY tool is what you're after, you can skip this one). They're 'OK', but that's about it. Rating... 3-Stars.
