SCHLAGE16207626 Universal Square Corner Dead Latch for F Series

Worked great in fixing my front door (entry) where the latch was stuck in the retracted position. It was easy to replace and seems like a genuine Schlage product.

This backseat latch is direct factory replacement for F series lock set.If your door won’t shut because your backseat is defective, this latch can be used to replace it.Easy fix.

I broke my lock and latch, forgot the key. But had a spare lock without the latch, used elsewhere. My lock has rectangular spindle and I guess it is f style because this latch was a perfect fit. Also thick face plate. It came with plastic shim? which I didn't need.

Know your needed part number. Verify need square or round corners. Latch works great if you verify these conditions ahead of the purchase.

I had an older Schlage keypad lock on the front door that still worked great other than this Dead Latch. The Dead Latch would not retract allowing the door to close without turning the handle. Replaced dead latch with this one and problem resolved. Paid a little more for it overnight as I needed fast and didn't want to wait a few days for a replacement. Home Depot did not have a replacement. All good as this fix could not wait.

Works great. Previous unit had failed probably due to incorrect installation methods.
