Chicken of the Sea Imitation Crab Meat, 3.53-Ounce Pouch (Pack of 12)

Given to my mom. She loves it.

I originally discovered this product at Target. Since then I have not been able to find it anywhere else. What's more, at Target it was about 3+ dollars per pack and on Amazon you'll pay around half that.Don't let the product name fool you. "Imitation" crab meat is really a blend of several types of "real" fish with seasonings, (not processed chemicals and such made to look and taste like crab). I love this because it doesn't need to be refrigerated and makes a lot of humdrum meals taste great. I add it to Mac & Cheese with some steamed veggies for a great casserole, or mix it with some mayo, a dab of mustard and some sweet pickle relish for a great sandwich filling. I hate to sound clichéd here, but truly, the possibilities are endless. Again, this makes a great change from tuna and goes over great with hungry children.

I was expecting a more chewy consistency, like the krab sticks served in sushi. The flavor is just ok, and the texture is not pleasing. Since I ordered in bulk (a mistake without trying it first) I'm hoping it will make ok fish cakes when chopped and combined with egg, bread crumbs, and other ingredients.
