Fantastic Lens and Value, but…
This lens is sharp, lighter than many other equivalent lenses, and gives you more light than most telephoto zooms in its price range with its fixed f2.8 aperture. The lens is incredibly well made and comes with a lens hood and a tripod collar, making it an amazing value for the price. The zoom range of 70-180 mm is close to 70-200 mm and should be usable for most. Unfortunately for me, I kept wanting to zoom in more than I could with this lens so ended up exchanging it for a 70-200 mm and paid more for those extra 20 mm. It functioned very well with the zoom and focus rings both providing just enough resistance to be easy to use while staying where you want them to. I used it on a Sony a7iii and it integrated well with aperture and shutter priority modes, fast autofocus, and image stabilization.

Made in Japan
This is a nice surprise, one of the very rare lenses from Tamron that's made in Japan. Love the compact design of it, and the VC is nice. Can't beat that whole package for the price.

Great Bang for the Buck
Really nice lens - very sharp and fairly light weight and about 1/3 of the price of the newer Sony 70-200 GM lens. Of course, it doesn’t have all the features that the high end Sony does, but for me, it checked all the boxes. Getting great wildlife shots in the woods behind my house!

A lens that's 2.8f all the way
So I like this lens that it's 2.8f all the way through, the shots are clear and AF is fast. But I find most of my shots are on the 4f or smaller aperture. Still giving 5 stars as it's fun to play with the bokeh, but I think that I'll switch to a 28/35-300/350 3.5-5.6f lens as I'm finding I'm missing the wide angles and needing that little extra zoom boost without having to switch lenses that this lens doesn't provide. Used with Sony 6700 body.

Heavy, uncomfortable to handle, low average
The quality of the photos is good at 120 mm, acceptable at medium distances, low average at extremes, the lens is heavy for a Mirrorless camera, it does not have a tripod support ring and without it you can only use it in your hand and due to its weight it becomes uncomfortable to handle, it is not a telephoto lens for birds or nature, it is too short for that and too heavy for portraiture, I returned it because I did not like the final balance and it did not fit what was intended.

Fantastic Lens
Oh my GAWD this is a fantastic lens. The pictures are so crisp. The focus is on point. This really got my street photography going. I love the picture quality. I was using the Tamron 28-75, but I love this better. Wow!!! Definitely recommended.

Defective item. Bad lens flares.
Bad lens flares/reflections straight out of the box. They are more prominent at 180mm. I used it with a Sony A7R IV A camera. As soon as it was delivered, I went straight to the DFW airport to test it.Amazon doesn't refund immediately. I returned it five days ago using the UPS option. It was delivered to Amazon yesterday, but there has yet to be an update. It may take up to two weeks to 30 days after they receive the item to issue a refund. So, be aware before you buy.
