Mechanical keyboard for fast typing
There are two things that make this different from regular mechanical keyboardsFirst - it's tenkeyless. This is probably the most important point. When I started using the keyboard, I kept getting caught off by the distance I had to move my hand to reach the mouse. With a regular keyboard, you move your hand quite a lot to the right to get to the mouse. But with a tenkeyless, the idea is that you type the numbers using the top row, without using a numpad. The mouse is right there, only a little to the right. After about a day of usage, I'm accustomed to the distance to the mouse. Also, because it's not as wide, it's a space saver. You can fit a lot more on your desk now.Second - the top of the keys are blank, the lettering is on the front side. This is probably to save the lettering from wearing out, but it also has the 'wow' factor, especially for your hunt-and-peck-style coworkers. If you use this keyboard, you will almost certainly be a touch typist.I was initially trying to decide between this keyboard and the Das Keyboard Model S : Ultimate US Silent keyboard. The 'silent' in there simply means brown switches, just like this keyboard. So essentially, the two keyboards are almost exactly the same. The only reason I chose this one over the Das is because it's tenkeyless and not as expensive. The Das, on the other hand, has completely blank keys and gets you more wows.In the end though, the admiration of jealous coworkers is only fleeting, what matters is your comfort and needs. So the lack of a numpad on this keyboard won out over the Das. I thought I'd have a problem with the lack of a numpad but after about a week of usage, I haven't noticed a problem.Next, a word about the shipping charges. If you go straight to the Keyboard Company's website, their shipping charges of 6GBP gets you a 'next day delivery'. However, the 6GBP charge here on Amazon only gets you a 'recorded delivery' which is 2-3 days. I am not sure why this difference exists but having this knowledge of their main website makes this unfair. Acceptable, but unfair.More - I received a Filco Black Key Puller as well as replacement Windows keys in the keyboard box. The replacement Windows keys are blank and unbeveled like the rest of the keys, with a small Windows logo in front. An observation to add - I find myself making sure my hands are clean before using this keyboard. The clean appearance of the keycaps makes me conscious of my own hygiene. This can only be a good thing.I don't have much to add about the quality as you can research that yourself; Filco keyboards are extensively reviewed and written about and are a favorite among mechanical keyboard lovers. I've personally found that my typing speed has increased a lot since switching to mechanical keyboards. Reason - I was fast on the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 (UK) but there's less effort required on these mechanical keyboards so I can quickly move on to the next letters.I own both a US and UK version of this keyboard as well as a US and UK version of this keyboard with the numpad intact. But that's because once you go mechanical, it feels mushy typing on generic keyboards that your workplace will supply you with, such as the aforementioned Ergonomic 4000 or the awful Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 3000 which feels like stabbing plastic with your fingers. This is a copy of my same review on the other keyboard, UK version. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Filco-Majestouch-2-Tenkeyless-Tactile-Keyboard/dp/B006TTL38E/ref=cm_rdp_product - I use a US version at home and a UK version at work.

Keyboard company has good customer support
The keyboard build quality is good and the keyboard is hefty. My keyboard had some weirdness going with the longer keys which felt scratchy and wobbly, so I sent it back, but did not request a new one since I have both cheaper and more expensive keyboards that did not have those issues. Otherwise, other keys felt great albeit possibly a tad too light for my taste (I have 4 other mx brown mechanicals and they were all a bit stiffer and more tactile). However, the keyboard company handled the situation great, thanks for that.

Best keyboard I've used for about 5 years.
I love this keyboard. For reference I bought this last Thursday and I had another one of these keyboards with Cherry Blue switches since 2014 and it still works to this day so this keyboard is extremely solid and i've foudn no issues with either of them and built like a tank with a nice weight.Short story is I wanted to try Brown switches and I prefer them so much more compared to the MX Blue switches. I got sick and tired of the Blue switches after a while and finally had enough money to buy Cherry MX browns. I personally prefer the feel and sound of the MX browns so much more. They feel solid to type on and sound solid too (Which makes sense as Blue switches have two parts, and one of them makes the click sound I hated for a long time now). My last keyboard was the ISo european version and I prefer the USA ANSI layout so much more and fine it better to type on, especially touch typing because of the position of the enter key.So all in all I can't reccomend this keybaord enough. Including my other keybaord i've use it for years and only got this one as I was sick of the Blue switches (And don't have time to solder different ones on), but it shows I like this keyboard enough to not bother researching alternative keyboards. The other advantage to ANSI layout is it's far easier to get high quality keycaps, such as ones made with PBT plastic or letter injection methods and keycap shapes if you are this way included that is.

Quiet sturdy compact mechanical keyboard to use at work and at home.
Wonderful sturdy compact keyboard with Brown MX switches. I was worried that noise will be high and will annoy people around, but when I stopped to "bottom out" keys and started to touch type everything became really fast, silent and smooth.I use the keyboard as external keyboard for my MacBook Pro Retina at work and only missing key is "power" button on my laptop to lock it using short-cut. I started to bring the keyboard from work to home for weekends cause I really prefer my Filco keyboard to built-in Macbook keyboard and now I am considering to buy my second Filco keyboard to use it at home.

Writing this review as an excuse to type with this keyboard!
Arrived a couple of hours ago and have to say its fantastic. Feels sturdy, great impression on the build quality. no give when you try to bend it at all. Satisfying to type on, not too loud but feels great. No 'Filco ringing' sound which I was worried about.Only thing I would change is to make the USB cable detachable, far from a deal breaker though.Very happy I sprung for this.

Best keyboard
I have 4 other cheaper mechanical keyboard brands. Decided to bite the bullet and get an expensive one. This was my choice. This is the best keyboard I ever had. Period. I would buy this again if I lost it asap. Can't recommend highly enough. The build quality. Key presses. All superb. I use it in an open office and had no complaints about sound levels (brown switch)
