Appli Parts APT-TC157 Capillary Tube Cutter for Copper, Aluminum, Steel, PVC and Other Soft Metal Pipe for Professionals and DIY Applications

I came across these when I was at our German office providing some training. I had to get a pair. They work so great. Have always used a standard tubing cutter, small one, in the past. We work with 1/8" copper tubing a lot setting up our equipment. Huge time saver. No collapsed tubings, bulged ends, ferrule slips right over with no further work. Clip and its done. I had to move about 20 pieces of equipment a couple of times and it was necessary to retube everything both times. It involved at least a dozen cuts per instrument. That would have taken forever without these. I do think that pair of dog nail clippers might just work the same way.

This cuts cap tube so I give it three stars but...it is poorly made. The fasteners that hold it together do not go half way through the nuts so as you are using it it tends to fall apart. It's spring loaded so when the nuts back off and the fasteners fall out parts start flying in all directions. Yes it cuts cap tube but I need to focus on my work, not on keeping my tools from falling apart from normal use.

It crushes the capillary tube. Utterly useless
