Q: what do i connect the rear panel to?

The rear of the panel features solder cups. These cups are soldered to the ends of the audio wires running through the walls of your studio. There are 7 connection points per jack: GROUND, TIP, RING, SLEEVE, XLR 1, XLR 2, XLR 3. The TRS and XLR cups can be soldered jumpered together (TIP & 2, RING & 3, SLEEVE & 1) to allow the use of a single 3-conductor audio wire per jack.

Q: Hi, do these wall plates come with wall box or pattress box for installation?

Hi Joshua, The SA-PLATE wall plates do not come with the electrical boxes. They are standard sizes so you should be able to source these boxes from a hardware store or online. For this SA-PLATE34 you would need to use a 4 gang box. Please email us directly at customerservice@seismicaudiospeakers.com if you have any questions. Hello, thank you for your interest in the SA-Plate34 from Seismic Audio. Seismic Audio is the manufacturer of the connectors. The contacts are not gold plated. Have a great day!

Q: Will these work with guitar instrument cable and microphone cable??

Hi Jeff, These jacks are XLR-1/4" TRS combination jacks. They will accept either a male XLR plug, a 1/4" TRS plug, or a 1/4" TS. It is recommended to solder microphone/XLR type cable behind the jacks (inside the wall) with 2 insulated conductors and a spiral wrapped ground and/or braided shield. If you are connecting a guitar cable, you must make sure that both your output and input are unbalanced 1/4" TS.
