I recently got my hands on the Amaran 60d S and, honestly, I’m blown away. I’ve been searching for a portable, reliable light that doesn’t skimp on color accuracy or brightness, and this little powerhouse fits the bill perfectly (and I don't just mean financially!). Let me tell you why. First off, let’s talk size and weight—it’s barely bigger than my camera before adding the globe difuser! That makes it super easy to pack up and take anywhere for traveling content creators. Or for faculty like me who have limited space, but need a powerful light like me, not having a bulky light to lug around is a game-changer. But just because it’s compact doesn’t mean it’s holding back on performance. The Upgraded High SSI LED design is where this light truly shines (pun intended!). The color rendering is fantastic. The fact that the Amaran 60d S includes a dual NP-F battery plate and is also D-Tap compatible (cable sold separately) means I can power it in tons of situations. If I’m out in the field, I can just pop on my NP-F batteries. If I’m near a larger battery source with a D-Tap cable, I can hook it up that way, too. It’s all about flexibility! Now, if you love getting creative with your lighting, you’ll appreciate the 8 built-in lighting FX—Paparazzi, Fireworks, Lightning, Faulty Bulb, TV, Pulsing, Strobe, and Explosion. It is not something, that I have used, but I do play with a little just for fun. For the right creator, combining these features with this will be a game changer. Overall, the Amaran 60d S has easily become one of my favorite pieces of gear and I'm constantly looking at new ways to utilize it. The combination of compact size, superb color accuracy, universal mounting options, and flexible power solutions makes it a no-brainer for anyone serious about their craft. This light gets used in my studio EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Plenty bright, very accurate color, super portable, easy to use, built like a little tank, functionality is massively upgraded when using the app - not to mention getting to use V-Mount batteries?? PERFECT!

The Amaran 60dS is a standout in its class. It gives you powerful daylight output, excellent color fidelity, Bowens-mount versatility, and app control all in a travel-ready package and at a price ($135–170) that punches well above its weight. Choose it if you need a compact, accurate, and flexible daylight fixture. If you require more brightness or rugged outdoor performance, consider larger Amaran/Aputure models like the 100d/200d series.

It's a good light for weddings, or smaller projects. Bestware that it's ONLY a cool light, this version doesn't have warm lighting. I bought an Aperture soft box to accommodate it and I like using it for small/personal projects.
