This is a great brand. Works as it should!

I have detected for 30+ years without a pinpointer. This is not an essential piece of gear but is helpful for small targets or muddy conditions. This one is very simple to operate. I am not sure the discrimination feature is needed since my detector takes care of that most times. It is a little chirpy in mineralized soil if sensitivity is set too high.On shallow targets the pinpointer saves me from digging a large plug. The trend seems to be to pinpoint less, dig larger plugs, then use pinpointer to find target. The vibration and volume are easily perceived. If you like, you can turn off the sound. I will write again after I have used it for a few months and several trips.I lost first pointer. I now have a second one. I attached a 1/2 “ stainless split ring to the hole in cap and hooked a key retractor to that. Now it stays hooked to my belt loop. I can use it without removing it. I won’t walk away from it. The rings were from io tags LLC (on Amazon) and the retractor was from Key-Bak (on Amazon.Addendum: Now Nov 2021. This pinpointer has held up fantastically. I use a tip protector that I found on eBay as I tend to “root around” with it a great deal. I think a key to dependable functioning is to turn sensitivity down a notch or two from max. No leakage from water. Battery life is excellent.I still like my key retractor set up as well.

I’m glad I purchased this pinpointer instead of the more expensive model. It works great and it still picks up items far deeper than you actually need. I turn the sensitivity down. Way better than the cheap replica of the Garrett carrot’s. Toss the battery that comes with it because it only lasts 20 minutes.

Keep the batteries fresh. for good operation. Seems to malfunction after a while. Fresh batteries help.

Minelab makes quality products. Had one of the cheaper orange pin pointers. The quality of the Minelab pin pointer is way beyond it. I’m still learning the different functions this pin pointer offers but it definitely compliments my 800 Equinox. If you can afford to start out metal detecting with a little more expensive pin pointer, it’s worth it!

It works great, I'm glad I got it it helps find items in a clump of dirt, it's easy to use the vibration helps in a noisy environment

Very easy to use and adjust sensitivity. Using an Ace 250 with NEL Coil and this as the pointer... very effective pointer once you start digging. But I also just drag it around on a string and send it into small crevices ... found a coin in hole where I couldn't get my big fat coil into. Wife loves it ... I get a hit on the ace and she digs out the goodies!
