This a beautiful book
I'm a lifetime Minnesota resident, and the descriptions in this book of the different types of snow are spot on. Each type is magical in it's own way, and the author captures the beauty of the season perfectly. I've loved reading this to my children every winter.

Just beautiful!
As a big fan of Cynthia Rylant, I purchased this for my two young girls this Christmas, thinking especially of my snow-loving four-year-old. When I read this beautiful book to my daughter, I assumed the she would simply think the book was about children loving snow and the things children do in the snow. Days later she was talking about snow (we had several feet) and made a very profound statement about snow - I knew then she got so much more out of the story than I ever thought she could. When I read the story; it brought tears to my eyes. The story is about much more than snow.... but I won't tell you my interpretation as yours may be different.I'll be giving this as a gift to friends and family for years to come. The illustrations are works of art. Don't hesitate to order this one!

A treasure for all ages
When I babysit my 4 yr old grandson and granddaughter(twins), we always read a few books before naptime. Discovering "Snow" in the stack of library books they had just brought home was like finding a special gem. We read it several times while on loan which happened to be during snowy weather. It was like sharing my own childhood memories of wintertime and certainly set the mood for a winter's nap--a "warm fuzzy" indeed! I love this storybook for the lovely poem that it is, and continue to marvel at Cynthia Rylant's talent for expressing so beautifully what I would deem indescribable. And Lauren Stringer's illustrations are so right for this story, too. Of course I had to have this book, not only for my grandkids and myself, but for my best friend and her grandkids, as well.

Even Grandmothers love snowy days!
There is nothing a Minnesota/Wisconsin kid likes better than a SNOW DAY! They're off the hook, no school, and PLENTY of snow to roll around in for the rest of the day. Charming illustrations and a sing-song lilt to the story makes this book stand out as a favorite. A good romp in the snow is as good as it gets.

buy this book!
A stunning and charming book. The first winter book I buy for the children in my life, and my elementary students loved it too (it’s simple enough for preschool and nostalgic enough for particularly mushy 5th graders, but really I would put this at ages 3-9

Beautiful and enveloping
We discovered this book at the local library. I loved it enough to order it as a Christmas gift for my 4 year old daughter. I find the imagery and attention paid to how snow looks and feels to be enchanting. The images really capture something magical about snow.

I think this book is more for parents to feel good about what they are reading to kids than it is for kids to enjoy.
