For years, I've used metal files. These are far better and get a much better result, particularly on flat surfaces as the files do not flex. The smoothness achieved is far higher than anything I've used before, you can get a mirror finish, easily.

bought to do finishing work on my 3d prints and im impressed once you get the surface down to a consistent smoothness the files add a great shine to the surface one stroke will leave a mirror finish (over a small area) these files are for the final finish nothing more. items arrived well packaged and in good condition each file comes in its own plastic reusable container the files them self's are well made and the teeth are well formed (although you will need a strong magnifying glass to see them) great product would buy again. just a note on cleaning get a sort brush and push it on to the teeth it will dislodge any chips imbedded there then brush them away with the same brush file comes up like new.

I love these, perfect for Gundam and Warhammer models. Also, saves on dust from sand paper. Each file comes in its own plastic protector and that is a really nice idea. I use them all time. Brilliant. I wish they made glass needle files also for the really fine details.

I like the way these files finish the ends of my miniature plastic fiber optic wires. As anybody who deals with fiber optic wires know, the cleaner and best finished the ends of the wires are, the better the light transmission. Since I like installing micro LEDs in plastic models, I also use miniature plastic fiber optic wires to route the lights where I want them such as Nav Lights, Tail Lights, etc Using these files has really helped me to clean the ends of the fiber optic wires to the point where the light loss is minimal. Just cutting plastic optic quality wire and sanding the ends is not good enough. What I do is cut a piece of plastic fiber optic wire, file both ends under a microscope, use black heat shrink tubing just wide enough to slide the micro LED inside on one end and touch the one end of the fiber optic and carefully heat shrink it all without melting the fiber optic wire. Then I run the fiber optic wire where I want the light to shine through. These files really work well at finishing the ends for that application.

I've used these on a good dozen model kits since I've got them and they are fantastic for doing finishing touches on any nub marks or clean up tasks. The price is great for the number of files you get - primarily in different widths and ends to fit multiple needs. They work as intended and file down plastic parts very easily and cleanly. I've been using these for the past few months on multiple kits and they haven't deteriorated at all, do I'm confident in their durability. Just as a note, you can easily clean these - I use some basic soap, water, and a soft toothbrush to clean out any particulates from the sanding surface. This helps to maintain the grit and sanding quality.
