Deluxe Materials Ballast Bond

This product didn't work for me at all. I tried it on fine ballast on 2mm scale track. It was easy to apply and spread quickly through the ballast, so far so good. The problem was that it dried to a totally unnatural high gloss finish. I had bought two bottles, so tried the second one in case I had a duff one, but got exactly the same result. Cannot recommend this product, diluted pva gives far superior results.After this failure I visited De Luxe Materials stand at the Warley Model Railway Exhibition. I spoke to John Bristow, who said that it was the first report that he had had of such problems. He very kindly gave me a replacement bottle to try. I have to report that this new bottle worked perfectly, giving a nice firm matt finish. My first 2 bottles must have come from a faulty batch.I have updated my rating to 5* and would advise anyone using the product to try a test before using on a large area, if you have any problems, the makers are extremely helpful.

I use ballast bond not just for track-work but also for all aspects of model railway scenery using scatter materials. I find it is really important to mist spray (with water) the ballast or scatter lightly from a distance (maybe a foot or more above) before using the brilliant fine dropper spout from about 1". It is easy to be really precise. If the adhesive seems to "explode" quickly into the ballast etc. you know you have got it right. If blobs form the ballast is too dry. Ballast Bond is invisible when dry. In the images all areas - track ballast, pathway, grass etc. were made using Ballast Bond. A little goes a long way.

This stuff works miracles, yes if you have a large area you want to ballast you may need more then one bottle but the final result is very realistic and easy to use.If your gonna use anything to glue ballast I highly recommend this stuff!

its ready to use...in a handy size bottle...no mess making up your own...so the measurements/quantity of mix is spot on.

Does what it says on the bottle. Easy to use.
