Jazz Blues Piano book
I bought this book for reference material for Jazz and Blues. The book has many different exercises(85) to practice different Jazz styles and also has a backing track to hear how the exercises sound like. The book gets into allot of theory of the Jazz exercises. This book is not for the very beginner pianist. You need to know your chords(basic and extended,9th,13th,inversions,open chords, etc) and scale modes(dorian, etc) which it gets into pretty heavy. Each exercise, the book describes each measure what they are trying to do. Plus you get to hear what it sounds like on the Audio CD that comes with the book. There are some nice Jazz songs in the back of the book(7 of them). There are backing tracks for these also to hear what they sound like. Also gets into one comping style exercise by several different Jazz Blues artists such as Oscar Peterson,Charlie Parker, etc.Again, this is a great reference book on Jazz and Blues styles.Dave

Jazz Blues-Piano
I'm having a lot of fun with this book/CD, especially the piano, bass and drums pieces with accompanying written music for the chords. One can improvise along with the CD music with the right hand, and learn how to comp with the left in due time. The book conatins a little music theory, a little of which is good. But some of it is,in my view, unnecessary to enjoy jazz blues. The combo book/cd is well worth the price!

Excellent for Intermediate Pianists!!!
I just love this book!It gives you the foundations for all types of Jazz-blues styles. By the time you finish this you'll be able to know exactly what is being played on a jazz-blues or blues record. This will help to really continue your developement after you get through the book.It covers harmonic foundations, rythmic motifs, comping, and improvisational keys used in the various jazz-blue styles. If followed properly, by analysing all the lessons and transposing them and mixing and matching the different styles and also improvising on the different examples, this book will take you from intermediate to advance in a matter of months. This is a jewel.

Good information but inadequate audio and poor choice of book formatting
The information in this book is great but I have two issues with the book:1. It is too tightly bound to read from comfortably while you're trying to play (a spiral bound book would be much more appropriate and user-friendly), and2. The audio link might be fine if you have very high-end speakers on your device, but on my laptop, which has pretty decent speakers that provide adequate volume for everything else I listen to, the audio is much too muted on the link that is provided with this book.

Thanks!
Mark Harrison has delivered an expert and concise set of lessons that has helped develop a scratchy keyboard-playing guitarist into semi-competent pianist - and I'm loving playing now! It also stands as a little reference book for those (like me) with short attention spans. Thanks, Mark!

Excellent, covering the subject thoroughly
This book gives a rich treatment of jazz blues. It covers chord voicings, comping, solo playing with piano effects, all for the six or so major jazz-blues styles of the past century. Everything is designed for the intermediate player, without undue technical demands.

Very good, just what I needed
I find this book the perfect follow up for the other one Blues Piano from same author, which I consider a master piece. I just started and I am very happy with it.
