Rescue or L.E. ? Uh, BOTH.
For close work... P20iX. EDC for sure... MT2A Pro. For reaching out... MH25 Pro all night long. Nitecore is an impressive brand, creating beautifully made and highly capable, professional-use flashlights. Who knew a pocket-sized light like this could throw so far! The lumen & candella combo is perfect here. Props to the R&D and aesthetic design team for their efforts. If you're a professional in Search & Rescue or L.E. (I was both) ... or maybe you have higher expectations in the equipment you carry... (i do also) I would highly recommend buying the MH25 Pro as a primary use (or "EDC") light. These are great rechargeables with long-life batteries made by Nitecore. For the price (yes, reasonable) I'm considering another for an emergency kit. You can search or signal with this light and spot objects at a safe distance, or BE SEEN from a great distance. A must-have for rural or nautical environments at least. The blue and green LEDs on the light give the user feedback on which of the 4 brightness settings you're on and how much power remains. Again, well-done on the look and function of this light. Then you have the defensive strobe, signal strobe and S.O.S. options available as well. Its a no-brainer. Buy it. Even the box looks good. One final user note: NOT a system failure of the light itself, but the included lanyard. I would either replace it or (if you use it at all) be aware that the machining on the light (at the point of contact with the lanyard) will eventually cause enough fray to part the lanyard with the light itself. This is the only flaw in using the lanyard as otherwise the lanyard is the perfect size and does what its supposed to do (without being cumbersome). But, if you work at height or near water, either use a better lanyard or even attach a very tiny key ring onto the lanyard at the point of attachment on the light. Then your chaffing issue is resolved. But, again, the light itself is still my PRIMARY edc light which I'm still VERY impressed with. Especially the throw and candella combo, which has made it possible for me to land my beam at great distances. I can, as a result, clear thick brush/bushes ahead of me in urban environments... so I'm able to Identify wildlife or other humans and either adjust my route or be that much safer on my journey. I dont always need a simple, enjoyable dog-walk turning into an action/adventure movie or a sad documentary. Be safe out there folks!

Nitecore Quality
I don't do a lot of reviews but I thought I might be able to answer a few questions people might have. Reviews show this light as having a green tint, which some people may not like. The light does have a green tint on low and ultra low, the brighter setting you choose the tint pretty much goes away, on high and turbo I really don't see it at all, and on medium it's very slight. Some also question how hot it gets, and on high and turbo it definitely gets hot, on medium not nearly as much, however it's basically the head that gets so hot so only holding it by the handle it's not a problem. I've had several Nitecore lights and they've always been great quality and very dependable for years, and this light promises to follow that path. When you pick it up you know it's well made and the tail switch combined with the side mode switch make it very easy to use. I've been using a Nitecore P12 for years and the mode switch is definitely a plus, and was one of the reasons I chose this light. Time will tell for the longevity, but I have never had a Nitecore light fail yet even after dropping them so I'm optimistic this light will last as well. I did order an extra battery and a charger as well because I like having an extra fresh battery at hand, and charging this light takes 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hrs. Nitecore has a newer battery out that is 6000mah I chose to order hoping it will last a bit longer than the 5300mah battery that comes in the light. This light is extremely bright and a definite keeper for me. One other thing, the battery in the P12 I've been using is still going just like new and I've been through about 6 of the other batteries I purchased for backups, so there is most definitely a quality difference, so the cheaper batteries in the long run really aren't cheaper, I will stick with the actual Nitecore batteries instead of buying and throwing away the others, plus the other batteries drain much faster than the Nitecore battery even though they have been higher mah batteries.

Great brand, I just do not like that the light throw on this flashlight
I love this brand of flashlights. This brand makes high quality flashlights. But I do not like the design of this flashlight for light throw. The hot spot on this flashlight is so small and prominent for up close work, to me is bothersome. I bought this because I love the smaller version of this flashlight (the MH12 Pro). The mh12 Pro is great for up close work or using it at a distance. The hot spot is not so prominent on it and it still throws light at a good distance. The MH12 Pro is a better choice (to me) for all around use with a more even light throw for ALL situations. I have two other Nitecore flashlights and I love them both. The quality of this flashlight is second to none. Five-star build quality. I just don't like the light throw on this flashlight. Update After doing some more comparisons with the Nitecore MH12 Pro this flashlight does have one major advantage over the MH12 Pro. With the bigger flashlight head on this flashlight the flashlight head does not heat as fast as MH12 Pro this is a major plus for this flashlight. I was really surprised how fast the MH12 Pro flashlight heated up using it in the high mode. One last update I was working on a sallow well pump in a basement the other day replacing a pump switch. I can NOW see where the smaller hot spot is useful in certain situations where the flashlight shines just in the area where you are working. I am changing my review from four stars to five stars.
