Pentel Matte Hop Original + Sweet Color Ballpoint Pen, 14 Colors K110-V14ST

SUPER GOOD PENS!!! They write so juicy and are perfect for writing and drawing. The only hangup I see for myself is how quickly they dry up in the pen. I’ve noticed with a lot of them that I have to really force the ink out after not using them for a couple days even if I keep the cap on. I have to actually jam them onto a separate piece of paper for it to flow once again. But maybe im just using them improperly? Anyway, very good pens in terms of color, matte finish, AND JUICE!!!

The media could not be loaded. These popped up for me the other day and I have never seen these before or heard about them so wanted to give them a try because I am a pen/art supply fanatic. The price point seemed super fair so I figured why not give them a try. I decided to get all three packs because I knew if I liked them I would want all the available colors. I am soooo glad I ordered these- they are awesome!! I absolutely love GellyRoll Moonlights pens and use them very regularly, but there hasn’t been anything comparable on the market and for any colors other than what they offer I just have to use paint pens. These MatteHops work very similarly and offer color options that aren’t available for the GellyRolls. I already know I will be frequenting these. The ink is very smooth as well as writing with it is smooth. They are fun to play with and feel comfortable in the hand. I would say they write almost exactly like a traditional rollerball pen, fluid and smooth laydown, but when the ink dries it leaves an opaque matte finish. The colors are beautiful, though I wish they offered a white and more pastels (hopefully they will someday!). I’ve added a picture of the full line up on white, black and tan paper so you see how the ink shows up. When you first lay down the ink, the lightest colors can be a little hard to see but once it dries it is very vivid. I think the ink could smear if you wipe it too quickly; in the video you can see the drying time and I think it took four minutes for the three layer test to dry entirely to the touch. I’m not sure how long they will last since you can’t see the ink barrel, but at the price I have no doubt I will reorder when they empty.

Pens are so juicy, flow really well. No waiting for them to start writing, they write smoothly. They dry quickly. At first when I wrote on the black paper it was very underwhelming but as it dried the color popped. I love a 1.0 nib, thick but not overpowering. Enough color variety to please anyone. They’ll be my next go to pen.

I purchased these 12 pens back in February of this year (2024). At first I fell in love with them. Then the second time I went to use them just about a month later the black pen was all dried up or clogged or something, it would not work. I contacted Pentel directly and they sent me a replacement black pen. I've used them just a handful of times (maybe 3 or 4) since then and now I have 5 of the 12 pens dried up and not working. I find it very frustrating that these pens do not last and clog up so fast.Unfortunately, as much as I love them when they're right out of the box. I will not be purchasing any more and wasting another penny on them.

Most colors flow but not all of them. From the description, I expected the ink to flow easily and be really juicy. The light yellow and yellow-green don't flow at all.

Vibrant clear colors. I heard the ink described as “juicy” and it is. You have to let it dry for a minute before touching it or closing your notebook, or you’ll get faint marks on the opposing page. But any good review tells you that (Jetpens.com). The color is very good, the ink flows very smoothly, great for extended journaling by older arthritic-prone hands like mine—But, the barrel is thin, so buy silicone gel grips for finger holding, if you hold your pens tightly—it increases the comfort level. You can see the .07 print from a short distance, like my wall calendar, unlike most writing pens. I’m surprised how much I like them and the “sale” price made it even sweeter.
