Booster pack fun
Why did you pick this product vs others?:This was a great add on to the original Side Effects game. I could not locate the booster pack at any store. I tried ordering online from the QR code but was never able to complete my purchase. So glad Amazon had this product in stock. My family could hardly wait for the arrival of the booster pack. The new added pack has been a great addition to Side Effects.

Such a fun expansion for an already fun game!
My husband and I are both psychiatric professionals. After buying the base pack and having so much fun with it, we knew we had to have this expansion. It is really enjoyable, easy to understand, the cards are not only accurate but designed beautifully. It does require some strategy but it’s not overly complicated. Some rounds we play don’t last long, but others we can play up to 45 minutes to an hour.

Should’ve been included with the base game
Just what is needed to the base game side effects! The game is fun but after continuously playing it does become “basic” this expansion boost is just what the doctor ordered.. really should’ve just came with the the base game and did one purchase instead of two

NECESSARY
Absolutely necessary. Otherwise the base game gets played out really quick. Adds much more strategy and combos.

Better dynamic but still doesn't play great with just 2 players, would benefit from a larger group.
The Booster Shot expansion is a nice addition overall, but the game still doesn’t play especially well with just two players - it really benefits from a larger group. The expansion adds a good variety of new diseases, medications, and action cards that shake things up:“Pain” (Triggers on Episode) - Look at another player’s hand and discard 3 cards of your choice.“Dry Mouth” (Trigger on Episode) - The affected player can’t close their mouth for one round. (Note: all medications can now cause Dry Mouth.)“Placebo” - Protects a player from future Episodes for one round or nullifies an Episode card that was just played.“Munchausen by Proxy” - Give any disorder to another player (as long as they don’t already have it).“The Medicine Cabinet” - Retrieve any card from the discard pile.“Restock” - Shuffle the discard pile into the draw deck, then draw up to 6 cards. (You may discard as many cards as you like before taking this action.)“High Tolerance” - Remove a drug card from another player’s psyche.“Misdiagnosis” - Swap one disorder from your psyche with one from your hand.“Folie a Deux” - Redirect a recently played Episode to another player - basically an Uno Reverse, if they’re eligible.Even with all the new content, everything still fits comfortably in the original box with room to spare. We bought the expansion hoping it would add more variety to our two-player games -and it does- but some of the cards, like Dry Mouth, don’t really have their intended effect with only two people (it ends up being more of a 5 second gag than a real obstacle). Similarly, Folie a Deux often can’t be played effectively late in the game, since both players tend to already have most disorders, limiting its use.In the end, while the expansion definitely adds variety and more interesting interactions, this game continues to feel like it’s meant for a group of 3 or more. With more players, trading, alliances, and card dynamics become a lot more engaging, rather than it just being a race to find the final medication or therapy card.
