Awesome
It’s hardwired and plugged into my existing system. Really easy to install and I’m a senior citizen.

Nice Alarm, Easy to Install
I bought this alarm to replace an older failing alarm that would randomly go off (usually in the middle of the night). I like that this has a digital readout so I can tell if it is a false alarm or if I really do need to evacuate the house. It installed very easily, having a 3-wire hookup for power and connection to other home alarms. It took me all of 15 minutes to screw the back of the alarm to the gang box, connect the wires, twist on the cover, and perform a quick test. I haven't had a false alarm since (crossing my fingers). The only suggestion I have is to provide a place on the front plate where you can place a sticker or write the expiration date of the alarm. This alarm will stop functioning after 7 years and it is easy to forget even as you change the battery. I ended up taking a sharpie and writing the expiration info on the face, so when the alarm goes off in 7 years, I or the new owners of the house will know why.

Really like this CO detector
Really like this CO detector, it just saved us a few days ago. Every 15 seconds or so (I didn't time it, don't quote me) it take a reading and will actually show you on the display what the CO concentration is. Hopefully it's zero. I didn't know that closing too many vents can cause your furnace not to be able to properly clear exhaust. So I went around shutting vents in rooms we don't use very often. A while later this starts beeping. I thought it was the battery, but then I looked and the readout was 90, it was detecting unsafe levels of CO in the house. Shut the furnace off, opened up the house to air it out, ran the fan to move fresh air around. Looked it up and lack of proper airflow can cause that to happen. So I opened vents back up and it hasn't happened since. None of the older detectors in the house alerted because it wasn't crazy high levels yet, but this one warned me way ahead of time. Well worth it when your little girl is napping.

Works well, fairly easy installation
I bought two of these along with seven of the Kidde model PI 2010 smoke alarms as part of an interconnected alarm system I needed to install. To me, the important features were the ability to combine the CO alarms with smoke alarms on a single system, the digital readout (ppm CO), and the 120 volt power with battery backup. The units were easy to install for the most part, as the mounting plate and wiring harness are identical to those supplied with the smoke alarms. They started working immediately and have had no problems so far. Plugging the wiring harness into the back of the alarm was somewhat difficult, and it will need to be unplugged to change the battery. Because of that I'm not looking forward to the annual task of replacing batteries on all nine units, and it leaves me wondering when the designers will come up with an easier type of connection. Other than that I have no complaints, and I would recommend these units for anyone needing a 120 volt powered CO alarm.

Work great for a long time
This Carbon Monoxide Detector is a direct replacement for those that were originally installed. It was easy to swap out the old one with this new one. Friends in the local fire department recommend this unit as being reliable.

Tick Tock 10 Years On the Dot.
Incredible. 10 Years to the DATE. It's starts beeping End Of Life. I had to check my Amazon order from Sept 30 2015 to see if it was really 10 years! I prolly got it 2 days. Installed it the next. Wow.

Great CO detector
I was having problems with the hard-wired CO and smoke detectors in my home and was searching for replacements. In doing some online research, I ended up calling Kidde (pronounced kid-ah, I found out), and had a nice, long, informative conversation with a very pleasant lady in customer service. We discussed all the pro's and con's of various units, and these detectors sounded like what I wanted. My existing detectors were First Alert, so in order to install the Kidde detectors without doing some rewiring, I needed to get adapters, which convert the wiring harness plug from First Alert to Kidde. Unfortunately, I could not get these from Amazon. The only adapter they offered was a package of two, one of each type, so you had to use one and throw the other one away. And there was a 2-week wait on those. That was the negative, but price-wise, Amazon couldn't be beat for the detectors, especially since I needed 2 CO detectors and 8 smoke detectors. The switch-over from the old detectors to the Kidde detectors was simple and fast. One thing I found out about the CO detectors is that they have a limited lifespan and need to be replaced every 4-5 years. Mine were 6 years old, which is probably why I had to replace the backup batteries about once a month. I had one that would continue to chirp even with a new battery, which is what prompted the replacement in the first place. I really like these new Kidde CO detectors because they have a digital display, which will show the level of CO if there is an alarm, and they will also show you when the battery needs to be replaced.

Nice combination
Easy to replace old unit, like the readout of CO2 if present.

Battery that came with it was dead.
Received this to replace a device that had outlived its lifespan. Installed it with the battery that came with it and got a low battery alert. Tried a couple new batteries that I had already and within a day got low battery warnings for those as well. I was getting ready to return it but then noticed that there were 3 recommended batteries listed on the battery door. Went out and bought one of those and have not had a problem since.
