La Crosse Technology911-65557-INT Portable Digital Battery Tester

This is the battery tester I've been looking for. It's small and compact, it requires no power of it's own (no separate battery). But the best thing about it, is that it tells you two pieces of information, first a qualitative value for the battery strength using a meter with about 10 or 12 levels between empty and full. Second it gives you the exact voltage to a hundredth of a volt. When testing one battery, the first value is helpful, but when trying to test multiple batteries and verify that they voltages match (or are close), then the voltage number is more helpful. I also love that it has a simple toggle to switch between 1.2V, 1.5V, or 3.0V batteries. This means the quantitative value is accurate for both Alkaline cells, as well as rechargeable batteries such as NiMH or NiCd, or Lithium batteries (like button cells).

Fantastic compact battery tester that couldn't be simpler to operate. Just adjust the dial on the left according to the type of battery being tested, pull out the testing bar then insert the battery with the negative polarity on the left and slide it closed. In seconds you will get the reading as to the strength or lack thereof of the battery. Accepts all common sizes (AA,AAA,C,D, etc.) as well as button batteries and lithium as well. I've already pinpointed several batteries in use that needed to be replaced. A great tool for use anywhere needed.

Accommodates many battery types. Good price and nice display. Would give five stars if it had a holder for button cell batteries. Tricky to hold them when testing but still worked well.

I wanted a simple, clear to read battery meter for my "battery box". After looking at multiple choices I bought one of these. I used it for a week and liked it so much I bought another one to keep in a different part of the house. The indicator is large and useful. It shows both an actual voltage and a Full/Ok/Weak/Empty indicator. The slide-out battery holder is easy to use and the whole thing is compact when the tray is slid in. I tested it on button batteries, AA, AAA, C, and 9V against a "real" voltmeter and it was great. Recommended.
