I had another brand of these. The plastic "bristles" were too stiff. This is much softer, more agreeable and pleasant to use. I don't believe a circular motion would be ideal with this. Front to back, you won't tangle hair. Suspect that won't be true otherwise.

It’s easy to use. I have it in the shower. The downside is I have fine hair and I have to be careful not to tangle it.
