I cradled my son instead of breaking my own fall and my ankle took the brunt of the force. I tore ligaments and stretched tendons to the max but did not break anything. It's basically the worst possible ankle sprain, and now, 9 months later, I have nerve damage, every tendon is inflamed with tendonitis, because I'm a mom of four and can't ever rest my ankle.I first purchased a lace-up brace at the suggestion of my orthopedic doctor.The lace-up was a generic version of a lace-up Aircast -- dozens of variations of which are available on Amazon -- dug in at the Achilles tendon and made it too uncomfortable to ever want to wear it. I also walked unnaturally when wearing it which didn't help my associated knee, neck, and back pain.However, with *this* ACE ankle brace, instead of struggling with laces, I merely criss-cross the straps on both sides and tighten the strap around my calf. It's not as supportive or immobilizing as the lace up one, but it's pretty darn close, and seems to be doing the job. I'm able to walk around and do everything I need to do without turning my ankle. It's supportive and stabilizing and started reducing my pain and discomfort immediately. I faithfully put it on every morning, for about a month now, and honestly like wearing it. It's very comfortable and gives me confidence I can walk around without ending up in agony later on in the day.For what it's worth, something still snaps in the outside of my ankle across my foot, causing pain every once in awhile, but I don't know what to do to stop that. I'm going to try a compression sleeve/sock and see if that helps, as there is not much compression with the ACE alone.If my review was helpful, please click below! ### ⭐ Be Aware - Nonexisting Stabilization *by O***T on Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2019* This brace is touted as having a #3 support level, which is promoted as "providing the highest level of support and stabilization, using flexible, hinged plastic and/or aluminum stabilizers to help reduce risk of re-injury and relieve symptoms associated with acute injuries. The ACE Brand Deluxe Stabilizer is designed to help provide rigid". This claim is bogus. it only has flimsy plastic pieces that bend at the slightest movement. I am a average size male (5'8" and 145 pounds) and it did not limit to any degree what-so-ever my ankle/foot range of motion. It was as if i was not even wearing a ankle brace at all. It offered no protection at all. It didn't even offer any degree of ankle/foot compression for my inversion sprain. I do not recommend this so called brace at all and will be looking into acquiring another brace that is designed to do what it is intended to do and that is produce appropriate protection. ### ⭐ Skinny ankles only BEWARE! *by M*** on Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2018* Too small.
