PME Easy Cut Dowels, White 30cm, Pack of 4, 12-Inch

I bought this for a two tier cake I had to design and create for my college course exam which I am happy to say that I have passed. This was my first attempt using dowels and the experience was good. Not difficult to cut a great value for money spent. Held the style of cake very well.

These cake supports are actually like thin plastic hollow straws about 1/4 inch wide. Probably very easy to cut with scissors as there’s not much substance to them at all. They appear to bend very easily so I’m wary of using for the centre support on 3 tier Wedding cake. I knew they were hollow but thought the actual plastic would be much more rigid. Not sure if I’ll use these might be too risky for heavy cake.

I mistakenly thought these would stick with polystyrene cement. They don't, so find another glue like glue-gun / epoxy etc.They're pretty flimsy but on the upside, easy to cut. Would be good for small modelling projects like railways / warhammer 40k etc.

I make cakes for a living but it s the first time I've come across these. They are actually very large straws (bendy) a bit too flimsy for my liking you end up using More than you normally would. I prefer cake dowels. I would not buy them again.

These are really going to be brilliant for stacking our cakes, more so than the solid plastic dowels I've been using for the past 5 years. They can be cut more easily with the cutter I also bought and I'm really looking forward to using them. Have read many other reviews, so when they arrived, I tested the quality and found them to be excellent. The bulk price also makes them excellent value for money.

I recently made a carved dog cake for my son, I knew without the support dowels it wouldn't support it's own weight. Thankfully these were available on prime and arrived the next day, in time for me to finish his cake.they did the job, but I am not sure how they would fair with some of my big multitiered cakes. I will update when I try them!

Personal preference but I do not like poly dowels - and they did not look like poly dowels in the picture. Some people like them, but they are not what I personally like to use.

Brilliant dowels - they held up.my 4 tier wedding cake & sooooooo much easier to cut! (I also used one thicker in the center of the cake just incase!.
