Highly recommended
Highly recommended! Game changer! No more mess, no struggling to set up, worth the cost, safe for my dogs to be around, not an eye sore either! Does rruwirr 4 AA batteries but the mice never make it to the bait and there's no chance of contamination when emptying as long as you keep your hands away from the opening! You don't even have to look at it while emptying! So simple thanks!!

Minimally effective and eats batteries up
I purchased two of these with high hopes they would work as advertised. Sadly, they have been a disappointment. I continue to be taunted by mice & rats, who are surely laughing at my <10% kill rate and at my enormous battery expenditure. This door has dropped more than once with our killing the rodent that is prisoner, and when I attempted to zap it - there was no juice left in the batteries.I have seen some of these devices advertised with the external AC to DC power adapter. It would have been nice to have this included as I have already spent more on batteries than I did to purchase these two zappers. These zappers have only killed one mouse and I have had to dispatch two mice who were not sufficiently shocked. An exterminator might have been a more economical solution...

Won’t turn on
Installed batteries and the trap won’t turn on. Past the return window. No way to contact company for help troubleshooting.Shame on you AMAZON.

This works but in no way is humane
I've witness three mice walk into this... the only thing I can compare what happens to is when they did the electrocution on the movie the green mile. They don't die instantly... they scream for about 3 minutes while being electrocuted and I've had to manually shut it off.

Improvement over Victor Electronic Rat Trap
First of all, don't buy this Amazon item number. It doesn't include the a.c. adapter, and doesn't specify where to buy one or what the connector dimensions are. After buying this one and using it successfully with batteries, I then bought five more of https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C7PZCXPV, which is five dollars more with an included a.c. adapter. Not only that, since I bought this Amazon item number (B0BZTRSPBV), the product information was updated and it does not even advertise that an a.c. adapter is an option. If you get one of these without an a.c. adapter, but it has the d.c. receptacle in the back, I measured the dimensions of the plug as 11mm long, 5mm outside diameter, 2mm inside diameter, center +, and it is 6V, 1A.Anyway, battery or a.c., I am catching mice daily on them. I don't know what the issue is with some of the bad reviews. No mouse trap catches every single mouse. Are you using peanut butter? That's the best bait.I used the original-style Victor Electronic Rat Trap previously for at least fifteen years, and this is a major improvement over that, and others like that, for the following reasons:1. It has the trap door, preventing escape from electrocution. You can often hear that door slam down from another part of the house, alerting you to go take care of the mouse promptly and reset it promptly for the next mouse.2. It can use an a.c. adapter or batteries. (Again, see caution above. This item # may no longer have that option.)3. The whole top slides off so that you can clean it on the inside.4. The bait goes into a little slide-out tray accessible from the back, ideal for peanut butter.5. The Victor Electronic Rat Trap had holes in the back big enough for a mouse to discreetly enter and exit, so I had to place it with the back up against a wall if I wanted to catch mice. (The new model of the same brand has a slant to it, so I wouldn't have even been able to do that.My only complaint is that it uses four AA batteries, not four C or D batteries, so if on battery power it isn't going to last that long. I calculated roughly a month or so on idle based on the spec ("3 mA"), whereas the Victor Electronic Rat Trap lasted years on the four C batteries. But given the option of the a.c. adapter, I would only use batteries wherever I could not reach an a.c. outlet.

Worked perfectly
Catch the mouse within a few hours of putting the trap out. Easy clean. Very happy we made this investment. Safer option to use when you have kids and pets you want in your house.

Rat liked it but never went inside.
I have a rather large pack rat mocking me. I purchased this based on a friend's recommendation. It was easy to prepare and the instructions included are easy to follow. Well, for several nights after I put it out, the rat was curious about it, looking inside and climbing on it (I have a night vision camera that records any movement). The videos are the only thing captures, though. It's been almost two months, I've changed the bait every couple of weeks, but the dirty rat has NOT gone in. To be fair, after this didn't work, I bought some old-fashioned but big rat traps and the little bugger hasn't tripped those off either. What a pain - and kind of embarrassing to be outwitted by a rat.
