GRAPHTECH TUSQ NUT - SLOTTED JUMBO,PQ-6000-00

I replaced a dreary plastic nut on my DIY kit SG build with this. I had to shave 1mm off each end (easy with some 320 grit abrasive paper taped flat to my table) but apart from that, it went straight in. The most noticeable result was that it slightly repositioned the strings (a tiny bit further apart) which for me was better. Apart from that, it contributes to my guitar feeling and sounding a bit better.I've no reason to doubt the claims for 'self-lubrication' and 'transmission of vibrations' and so on that the manufacturer makes for the Tusq nut but I'd be lying if I told you I could detect a change in tone or resonance because I'm not sure I can. All I know is that the guitar is better for it and that's enough analysis for me :-)
