O Sacred Head, Now Wounded: A Liturgy for Daily Worship from Pascha to Pentecost

Another lovely liturgy for me to do with our kids
We have been using Be Thou my Vision from Jonathan Gibson as a family of since I first learned of it at the Sing! conference in 2022. We have since purchased six copies of his O Come O Come Emmanuel and now this one, one for each in our family (kids ages 11-15). We use this every morning during the weekday as our time to get together and meet and connect (we call it our "morning time") and it has been a helpful part of our pattern and rhythme. It has familiarized us with important creeds and questions which I would not have otherwise prioritized. It is chocked full of good words that nourish our hearts and minds. It has lyrics to hymns that you can read or sing along with. I have learned of several beautiful songs through Gibson's Advent and Lent books and I love that each of my children has a copy that they can take with them when they leave.I especially love that a few of my closest friends have the book as well and it's common to receive a text from one another with comments like, "Did you read Augustine's prayer this morning?! So good!"

Misleading title for a beautiful book
This is a beautiful book, both from an aesthetic and content standpoints. Both the title and the promotional material provided by the publisher lead readers to think that the liturgies will begin at Easter and continue through Pentecost. However, the author clearly states that the liturgies are to begin on Ash Wednesday. The only days “from Pascha to Pentecost” are one reading on Resurrection Sunday, one reading on Ascension Sunday and one reading on Pentecost.

Great fur Lent devotions
I sm continuing to use and benefit from the latest in this series of devotionals. So grateful for these Biblical resources focusing on our Savior through the lens of the past church experience too.

Beautiful Liturgy Setup for Easter time
This entire book is a beautiful work of art and worship. I own the previous book in this series (O Come, O Come Emmanuel) and the style is absolutely similar. If you are familiar with the previous book then you can expect a similar work. You could do each day's liturgy in about 20 minutes but there is plenty of room for dedicating longer time. I appreciate that this book is a very well guided resource for people that want to set aside a time during the seasons of Easter. However, there is room for grace by having ways to shorten the daily sessions or partly catch up at the end of the week. I sympathize with this effort as someone that wants to dedicate more time to devotion but will undoubtedly fall short. This is a well organized worship order. It blends familiarity with new readings. This is good. The same format helps you get used to the daily worship routine while new readings help you grow further. Some of the readings remain the same though, which is good in some cases. Overall, this is a very detailed guide to daily worship. If you appreciate scriptures, hymns, catechisms, creeds, prayers from history, etc. then this can be very enriching materialAlso, the physical book is absolutely beautiful. The box is beautifully decorated and the book easily slides out. If you own the other books in the series then you know the style. This box is purple so you can easily distinguish between the books. The book has three ribbon markers to keep track of the current devotion, scripture, hymn, or anything else you'd like. This book really does try to be as practical as possible. The order listed is a bit confusing thought. There are 42 days that you could place and do any day. There are 6 days that are seemingly more relevant on specific days. Mandy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Resurrection Sunday, Ascension Sunday, and Pentecost Sunday. The dates are confusing but at the end of the day you can setup the days however you want.

Excellent Daily Devotional, But I’m a Little Lost
I really loved using Gibson’s “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” for the Advent season, which is why I chose to purchase this book for the Easter season. My one complaint is that I cannot figure out why there are 6 daily reads, starting Palm Sunday and leading up to Maundy Thursday. Am I supposed to ignore 2 of them and just jump to Thursday’s reading? Other than that, I love the intentional focus built into each day’s devotional readings and prompts.

Wel thought out and written but too much.
I had hoed I could include this book in our evening devotions but it is so extensive that it would take us all evening to get through each days devotions. Ideal as a study tool on its own but not as an additional devotion to add to your daily Bible reading and other devotions. IMHO. I have passed it on to a church leader hoping he will find use for it with someone else. It is beautifully put together but rather too much.
