Krups EA811840 Arabica Manual Coffee Machine, 1450 W, 1.7 liters, Silver

This is the 3rd Krups machine bought form Amazon. Previous have lasted around 3yrs and we have been pleased. This one is awful. the software is out of sync, after 3 weeks It continues to tell me there is no water when there is. It told me to do a clean routine and 2 days later spat out the cleaning pill. It constantly tells me to empty the used coffee grounds when I have just emptied..... I note this morning there was coffee lying under the machine so must be leaking somewhere. Sadly my wife got rid of the packaging so we are stuck with it. One of the reasons we bought it is because of its simplicity. Now simply a waste of money

Have tried so many ways to prepare a coffee, but this one so far been the best one. Fresh, tasty and hot coffee in the morning!Machine got it quirks. E.g. Requesting a clean-up of the used coffee, while container is not even half-way full. Starting a coffee and halfway through realising there is not enough water. But those are small worries, compared with the overall experience, which was overall great product!

I had to return this machine as I believe it has a software fault.The machine is a great device in that it is simple to use and satisfies my needs, no requirement for use of milk, I drink only black coffee and it does these perfectly, though loudly!Unfortunately, the experience with this particular machine has been poor. The quick start guide and the lengthier user manual are inconsistent in their instructions to setup the water hardness setting, do not use the quick start guide it is wrong. - The inconsistencies will be obvious when you read both manuals, but do read both manuals! The machine also no longer ships with the hard water tester strip, so even if you can set this, it's a little pointless if you have no idea as to the hardness of your water supply. It also does not come with any water filters so you will need to purchase separately.The reason for the return is I believe a software fault, this machine frequently asks for a Long rinse cycle to be performed. This is annoying as it uses 0.5 litres of boiling water thus energy usage is off the scale, moreover it has been asking for this on average every 4th or 5th double coffee request!This machine is a replacement for a similar model I have owned for 3.5 years so very disappointed to find this one lasted around a week before problems, I do hope this is not a sign of the times, a throw away society is bad enough but after 1 week. Krups should be far better than this cheaper Chinese components or poor quality control, who knows.I guess the important aspect of this review is that I will not let this poor experience (which I will put down to an exception) taint my view of Krups and this particular machine. Once my amazon refund is returned, I shall buy another.Amazon please note, your returns policy being 5-7 day refund AFTER you receive the item is almost as unacceptable as the defect. It will mean that I expect, through no fault of my own, I will be without a coffee machine for maybe three weeks when taking into account the process of; return, refund, repurchase and receipt of new machine. Amazon you should think about this process in terms of customer service, it it were not for price, I would use a offline purchase model for electrical items.Rating refers to my particular purchase, if the machine worked as expected, I would have given 4.5 stars overall taking into account also value for money - (always room for improvement).

This Krupps coffee maker is a dangerously flawed machine. The steam wand is not properly attached to the machine being only help on by the 'o'-ring. If you use the wand to steam milk it is almost certain to come off scalding your hand. I don't know how it is legal to sell such a dangerous design.For Black coffee the machine works well and makes a very nice cup of coffee with a minimum of fuss.Unfortunately the machine developed a fault after a few weeks. I contacted Krupps consumer help centre who acknowledged by e-mail but have still never replied. The 'help line' similarly unhelpful.So the machine went back to Amazon and I'm hoping the same fault doesn't develop on the new one.Overall I'd look elsewhere for a better machine.

I have had this coffee maker for a week and, for the most part, I think it's great.My only complaint is that, for the periodic 2 minute cleaning cycles, the machine decides this after I have turned it on and started to make a cup of coffee. It grinds the beans, and before it makes the cup of coffee, the lights flash requiring a 2 minute clean. Once it finishes with the cleaning cycle, it dumps the unused coffee grounds, which is a waste! :-(

Absolutely loving this coffee machine. It's easy to use, easy to clean and very reliable. Great storage for beans at the top and a good size water reservoir that is easy to refill.Adjustable grinding size, coffee strength and volume. Overall really satisfied with this machine and good value for money.

It produces great coffee, but It does require a lot of assorted types of cleaning and descaling etc.It appears to be a lower system in the sence that you have to rely on assorted lights that indicate or flash in various modes to decode what cleaning version the machine requires and if you are not patient with reading and learning these indications and required functions you may well give up on it as a frustrating machine. I've had mine for around 2.5 years now. Poorly documented things that I've discovered are that the rear water tank should be thoroughly cleaned to remove even minor build ups of contamination or rings (water marks) within the tank (I use the equivalent of a brewers steriliser) and in addition depending on the purity of your water supply you are very likely to also have to regularly buy and use the Krups water filters that screw into the water tank.Once you get to understand these complexites it's a machine that died produce some very good coffee etc.
