Get rid of those cheese grater fret ends!
What an awesome tool for beveling fret ends. Works perfect. Two different angles make quick work of overhanging frets. very well made. The only change I would make is to use nylon tipped screws to hold the files. When screwing in the metal screws, the files try to twist out of position as the screws tighten down. Other than that, I am extremely pleased. Worth every bit of 5 stars!

Just right for the job!
Double side file included, a medium and a fine cut side. Nicely shaped wood block fits your hand, radius underside might not match every neck out there, but a lot easier to manage as opposed to flat surface which would tend to wander all over as your transverse the neck. The screws to secure file to slot in the block are in metal threaded inserts which is nice. This will get you reasonably uniform flat bevels on fret ends, to which you can further refine to your liking with hand files, rounded over, tapered, etc. Just the ticket for the fret spout which always comes along this time of year in the colder climates! (At least on instruments that haven’t been previously experienced with this)Be careful although with this item (or any time) when working on fret boards over the guitars top!EDIT 1/20/26Another reviewer mentioned the screws biting into the file surface to hold it in place was not doing the file any favors, and I agreed with that. So, replacing the Phillips head screws with nylon tipped set screws is the cure. The set screw I used is 4mm x 8mm long (0.7mm thread pitch) 2mm hex key, overall length including the nylon tip is about 9mm. Readily available Amazon in pack of 15 for a few bucks. First photo shows both supplied screw and replacement set screw. Otherwise, this tool is a welcome addition to the shop.

Great Fret Maintenance Tool
Picked this up to trim fret ends to file down fret sprout that occurred as result of seasonal change. Worked great - no damage to side of fretboard. Good weight for smooth movement up and down fretboard. I was even able to use it with strings on. Good value, ease of use and quality. If you own several guitars, a must have in the toolbox👍.

Excellent tool
I waited until I really used this before reviewing. Purchased because I was already pushing my guitar tool budget and needed to save some money, so I chose this over the more expensive StewMac file. I'm so happy with it!! the angles are perfect, the included file is sharp and quality, the slots are big enough to put any other file in too if you want. It's comfortable and very nice looking. Just great, I love it when the more affordable option over-delivers.

Awesome value.
I’m pretty partial to StewMac tools, but this tool is as good as the StewMac fret end bevel file. Might even be better.

Great tool for cleaning up fret sprout
This MusicNomad fret beveling tool is really handy. Changes in weather, wood shrinkage, etc can cause your frets to poke you in the hand as you play. You could take your guitars to your local tech once or more times per year and pay them for the work. You can, however, buy this tool and learn to do the work yourself.MusicNomad has short informational YouTube videos that explain the process. It's not difficult, just take your time. Yes, there are similar tools, but not like this. This beveler has a radiused surface that conforms to the guitar neck better than a flat-bottomed bevel tool. The file angles were chosen to create optimum playability.I'm happy with my purchase and happy about the progress that I have made in maintaining my own guitar frets. Save money by perfecting a new skill every guitarist can have.

Great file for fret sprout, not rough fret ends
This is an excellent file for something potentially scary to take to a guitar. The wooden handle is very comfortable and the two angles and ability to adjust how far the file sticks out via the screws is intuitive. It’s a little hard to tell which side of the file is the coarser side. Also, unless you’re actually installing brand new frets yourself, you will most likely keep it on the more slanted side. Please note that this file is really for fret sprout or actual fret installation. If you’re looking for smoothing out fret ends, get the E-File instead, the one that looks like a screwdriver.

Great quality item
Excellent product.....this is marvellous.....I have used the cheaper white plastic ones before but they have too much angleon the file so theftet is angled touch..The music nomad one has addressed this and made the angle of the fret ends more the correct angle...it feels quality as well..done several refrets with this and it's a great tool.....more expensive than others but does a really accurate job on the fret ends.

A simply - NO!
In short (sarcastic):- uneven (imagine you only using this tool for guitar neck, so why bother?)- clamping screws are damaging the file surface (then again, if the wood is uneven, why even bother about damaged file?)- overpriced as hell (but that is "USA made in China" Nomad's normality)It is really sad that a luthier tool will come with such a low quality. I bought new ones from StewMac and some Portuguese company. They are evenly shaped (the radius is correct, and not changing every few centimeters), and the file holding crews are separated from the file by thin steel bars, so the file itself stays undamaged).

A must have for re-fret
Excellent tool, love the 3&23 degree angles. 12 " radius on the block. You can sand the fretboard . Removable file is perfect for levelling under the nut as well, files well on its side edges. Awesome product!

Almost Foolproof
Love the way it cuts fret sprout. There's a 0 degree and 3 degree setting. Bit of masking tape down the sides use the 0 degree first, then the 3 degree after and you dont have to worry about filing each fret at the edge. Dont do what I did, whizz down the neck and it slip off and scratch the frets you've so lovingly levelled, crowned and partially polished. Slow and steady wins the race. Almost foolproof unless it's driven by a fool. I got there eventually.
