Best Cargo Box Ever
This cargo box is sturdy - more so than leading brands, and at 18 cu ft, holds more than I need to carry. Love the fact that it opens from either side. Surprisingly makes no noise when driving. Reduced my gas mileage by only about 2 mpg. With my little Rogue Sport, as long as I’m not going 80 mph, I often get over 40 mpg so I’m still happy with my fuel economy. The Rogue Sport sits a bit high profile so with the added cargo box, I could feel a wee bit of resistance with a strong side wind. Something to take into consideration when cornering I guess. Installation was a breeze, but because my car is small and the cross bars close together, had to additional drill holes. Additional hole spots were designated by small indents, so was easy to know where to drill with a regular drill. Bought a tube of waterproof black goo - LOCTITE Black RTV 598 High-Performance Silicone - to fill the pre-drilled holes I did not use to make sure water won’t get in. It worded perfectly. The entire tube cost well under $10, and I used only a small amount. Could have bought a smaller tube of the stuff. Note - be careful when using that goo not to get it on your fingers! I did, and it was difficult to wash off. I’ve some big trips coming up this season and am very glad this is the cargo box I have now. It’s so easy to put on, open and close, and take off. Stores easily too. It’s perfect!!!

Great Investment, looks sharp
Just look on a two week trip from south Florida to western North Carolina. Worked great, all items stayed dry. Was able to bring way more stuff on vacation because of this. Noise added seemed minimal. Mpg loss seemed minimal as well (Honda Pilot MPG meter). I had to drill holes into the pre-bored slots as seen in the photos due to my crossbars being 28” apart. Holes are already drilled for a 24" spread. (NOTE: 28 inches is maximum spread this will allow based on hole locations and install instructions) Install was very easy after that. Ran under a wood beam at the cabin we rented and it dented it in. I removed top and popped dent back out, worked fine. No worse for wear. Was able to fit pop up tailgate tent, 4 camp chairs, large telescope carrying base and a couple duffel bags with room to spare. Reached upwards of 85+ mph tearing through Georgia. 4 cam locks and a clip Looks good too, It turned heads at the Bucee’s. If you secure it right it ain’t going nowhere. Would recommend.

More efficient to just take the top completely off to load instead of propping up on braces.
I load a pop up tent and associated stuff to take to festivals, and almost all of it fits in this carrier, allowing a passenger or two that would otherwise be crowded with stuff in the SUV. Mounts easily to the crossbars on the roof rack. No problem there. I did have to get a small ladder to use to be able to reach high enough to load and unload the carrier. Unavoidable. A couple of flaws that I have to work around. The metal braces that are intended to allow propping up one side of the rack while leaving the other side down, just don't work. The low side won't stay put. I ended up just getting into the habit of taking the whole top off to load or unload. Not a big deal, but just doesn't work as expected. Second, be VERY careful as you turn the locks with the key in them. Securing the lid requires turning the locks with the key, and the keys are extremely soft metal. I almost broke one of them, and there are only two. I only use it a half dozen times per year, so none of this is a super big deal, but thought others might want to know of my experience.

Does What it is Supposed to do
I needed a topper that was a certain minimum width and height. I didn't want one that was longer than needed. The big name toppers only had long ones for the height I needed. I went with this for half the price and I was not disappointed... After a few modifications. I did not have any faith in the two built-in locks (for security OR safety). For security, I drilled holes in each side corner and put a 2-inch padlock in place. For safety, I ran a ratchet strap around the box and crossbars of the roof rack. The included U-bolts are probably fine as long as you don't over torque them when tightening them down. Plus they are probably better suited for round crossbars. However, I purchased four 3/8" dia. 4-inch wide U-bolts with wing nuts. I drilled the holes in the bottom tub bigger so they would fit. Then tightened them until the U-bolts started to flex. Those mods gave me all the confidence needed. We drove through rain and snow and water did get in the topper. Not a lot but the front of the box was damp and some stuff up front was damp. Be advised and pack accordingly. I have since added some rubber window stripping (from lowe's) between the top and bottom but I have not tested that yet. As far as driving/gas mileage. This was mounted on a Rav4 and had a slight upwards tilt. We drove six days of interstate driving. It was very windy. It rained. It snowed. The stiff crosswinds did not seem to have a significant impact on handling. Gas mileage? It's a rooftop box with a decent amount of frontal area. It IS going to have an impact on gas mileage. The amount of that impact depends on a combination of factors (Wind. Wind direction. Driving speed. Probably other things.) Out of six days of driving, it was windy every day. Only one day gave us the wind to our back. Gas mileage was almost normal on that day. However the impact to MPG was about 25%. Though I was more interested in getting there than in maximizing (or even trying to improve) gas mileage. Also, I couldn't say how this topper compares to any other topper on the market as this is the one and only topper I have used. Bottom line: Good rooftop cargo box. Excellent price for the quality. Single most important modification (IMO): Ratchet strap for added level of safety.

Very spacious and practical
I have to admit: I was skeptical when it arrived. It's very wobbly when you take it out of the box. However, once mounted on the roof of the vehicle, it stiffens up and then the lid can be opened as designed and propped open. I am using this on a 2016 Ford Explorer. The roof raises are not adjustable and are 27.5 inches apart (on center). The original mounting holes call for a 24" on center rail distance. However, the floor of the cargo carrier has "pre-molded" hole options. So, I was able to re-drill to the exact distance and the carrier mounted without problems. We used it on an almost 500 Mile trip, almost all of it interstate highway. The gas mileage dropped a little, but the vehicle drove and behaved normal (despite more than maxing out the weight) and there was no issue with the carriers integrity. I would recommend this carrier, just make sure it will fit on your vehicles roof rails.

DO NOT BUY - DOESN'T STAY CLOSED!
We put our suitcases in this on the roof of our Subaru and locked it up with the key and front latch, but after a few hours of driving, it BLEW OPEN ON THE FREEWAY and our stuff went flying out. We got it back together and tied it down with some extra straps, but we battled it all the way back home. Complete waste.

Bad Customer Service
I purchased this for a need to have more space in the car when packing for long trips. I received the order and 6 days later when I unboxed it, I found it was a pretty durable material and it was easy to install. However, upon trying to put the lid on I noticed that one of the locks that holds it down when driving was broken. The package came with a paper that stated to call and they will take care of any missing or broken parts. I called and waited on the line for around 10 minutes. When I explained my problem. I was quickly told "oh you got this on amazon" we don't handle any service from orders through amazon even though when i click on the product support here on amazon it gives me the same number. Now I'm stuck with a carrier I'm going to have to put a strap around to hold close when I leave in two days for a trip. I would say the product is nice if was not damaged. but the customer service is terrible. Do yourself a favor and don't purchase this product again not because of the product itself but if you need any help with the product, you will not get it.

Dont pay more for less......
Got this for a trip across the country. Pros are its huge inside. lots of room for bags and luggage. We fit 4 carryon size suitcases in along with a few smaller bags. The mounting holes didn't line up with our roof rack but there are little marks for drilling new ones and it takes longer to find the right bit than to actually drill them out. The locks work just fine but look a little awkward at first but don't worry it won't fall out. I also really appreciate the front latch that keeps your mind at ease when going 90 through Texas. Okay, maybe faster I can't remember it was a blur it never blew off or open so it worked. Downside the bars for holding it open don't always stay put and you sometimes get hit in the head. They do works to hold it up but our van is large and they could be hard to reach and connect. you could pay more for one with hydraulic lifts but then you would lose room in the cargo bay and that what you really want it for right. More stuff upstairs so there less in the car annoying the fam on a long road trip. buy this is works.
