Big yellow sticker on the side shows you how to connect the battery. Easy to access dual-sealed lead-acid batteries; it should be simple to have a local shop replace them in 5 years when they start running low on capacity. All outlets on the back, over half for battery back up and another several for surge protection only. Includes protection for F-type RF cables (for your cable modem) and a pair of Gig-E ports (also I assume for protection of your inbound to internal internet connection). A third RJ45 port connects to a special RJ-45 to USB cable to connect to your Windows machine, and from there you can set up the software to control the UPS, monitor the power, battery, and set shutdown times when the battery gets low during a power outage.
