Okay for skinny folks, but low quality
I like to costume myself for fun—I'll even mix the cummerbund/bow tie colors if I'm in a mood (see pics, with comparison explanation below). I prefer higher quality materials in my outfits, but for the right price, I'll pick a bit of low-cost panache. At around 10 bucks, this set is definitely the right price, but you have to know what you're getting into. The big dealbreaker for most folks is that while the cummerbund has an elastic band, it's taut on a 30" waist. So if you're more than a smidge bigger, I'd advise you to steer clear.A quick note about the color: the white is somewhere between blinding/bleach white and a little off-white; definitely not an ivory, but toward the purer side of the spectrum. The second caveat is about the quality (or lack). This is the most transparently low-quality faux silk you can get, though it does seem relatively durable. That can be okay if you want some budget-friendly razzle dazzle. So how does the faux fabric compare to actual silk and a nicer weave? The faux silk is a polyester with an extreme satin sheen on one side. Real silk in a satin weave does have a sheen, but this is artificially amped up.The faux silk doesn't drape well and is stiff in a way that holds creases or divets. Even if you don't know your fabrics, anyone actually looking at it might sense it's more of a costume than a genuinely fancy accessory.Part of this is due to the nature of polyester, but part is due to the weave. I included a picture of this set bordering three self-tie bow ties. They are a dark green silk twill, a bright orange polyester satin, and a black silk satin.A twill weave is more durable/thicker and is less shiny. A satin weave is thinner and shiny (what most people think of with silk). These can be done with higher or lower quality fiber, and the weave can be better or worse. The bright orange polyester satin is shinier than the black silk satin and the polyester fabric doesn't drape as well, but it's a higher quality fabric than the fabric in this set, so it looks nicer. What I'm saying is that you can get decent quality faux silk—but this set is not that.Get it for fun, but not for a black-tie event unless it's all that's in your budget.

Nice quality and highly adjustable.
The packaging that this set came in is a clear sleeve. The set seems like it is of good quality. The bowtie was purchased for my 13-year-old son, and was adjustable enough for it to fit around his neck, while still being able to be extended enough to fit around my husband’s.
