Which specific Garmin fitness devices can this scale communicate with?

Garmin stopped making devices compatible with Tanita wireless products some time ago so only older devices are compatible, i.e. 910, 610, 210.

does it have a guest mode?

Not if you use it with the Healthy Edge software. Each user must be programmed in. The D-1000+ and D-1100+ remote displays have guest mode and are compatible with this scale but these remote displays will not show the segmental readings.

Does the software come with the monitor or need to be purchased separately?

The Healthy Edge Lite, good for 8 users, comes free with the scale.
