The Interceptor [DVD] [2009]

* WARNING - SPOILER ALERT *This film is the kind of confused mess one comes to expect from Russian attempts at making Science Fiction. They tend to fuse traditional Science Fiction with the Fantasy and Super Heroes genres... and those 3 NEVER gel well together!Heres the basic premise -- A guy is transporting Psychotronic weaponry (has the ability to control minds) but wakes up on a plane with a bomb about to explode. It does so, but somehow he manages to survive falling 400,000 feet (7.58 miles). OKAY, whatever...- The guy who double crossed him sets himself up as a Businessman/Politician/Gangster with his own private army. He is possessed by a creature from a lower dimension. This nasty sends assassins to kill the first guy (who is now in hiding in Central Russia). This brings the plane guy out of hiding to Moscow to confront his former partner.- The Counter Intelligence Agency have been keeping tabs on the Gangster who has been testing the Psychotronic weapons out on a City (apparently, not only can it control minds, but can also hit a City with devastating Plasma bursts, and create holographic assassins). The plane guy hooks up with a Photo Journalist who has pictures of the Gangster having a seizure!- The gangster plans to use the psychotronic weapons to kill tens of thousands and blame it on a vigilante group who threatens him. Then he plans to sell this weapon to the highest bidders!- The boss of the Counter Intelligence agency is hit with a mind control weapon because he knows where the psychotronic weapons are. So the plane guy avenges his boss by attacking a warehouse and single handedly killing about 200 guards, and then going off to a higher dimension to learn how to control the 'inner force' (seriously, you couldn't make this garbage up if you tried - who could keep track of it anyway).- After he learns how to generate force fields he takes on his former partner who is completely taken over by the lower dimensional being. This being consists of black oily tentacles that seem to take over the entire planet! Good job he generates a force field to vaporise them before waking up in the higher dimension World.- A higher dimension Human send him back to defend the World (not from rubbish writing so it would seem).- He then sees the photo journalist and promptly swims in the other direction...If you can follow all that and actually make sense of it then you must be on LSD!

Having read the reviews on here I thought I'd give this film a try. I'm a fan of sci-fi and even films with plots you have to watch a few times to get them. This isn't one. The fact that the opening text describing what's going on go far too quickly to read (and I was really trying) tells you how much attention to detail this film has. The plot is incomprehensible. I watched the whole thing without a clue what was going on. There is a good guy and a bad guy (or a possessed guy - it's not clear) and the whole thing ends with some helicopters getting taken down (don't know who was in them or what they were for) and a fight with some sort of tree creature (I'm not kidding).The lead actor is completely wooden and some of the special effects are terrible. At one point a load of guys supposedly jump out of a plane and are sky diving. Does the wind ruffle their clothes - not a bit of it. Looks like a load of cardboard cut-outs (which is what it is).It's only saving grace is it's only 93 minutes long. It's 93 minutes of your life you'll never get back. It's the only blu-ray disc I've ever binned.

I recently purchased this film but unlike most modern dvds there seems to be no facility for different languages on the disc its russian with subtitles or nothing hence my rating when will the russians catch up and dub other languages remember the globe is shrinking and many people dont only speak russian that saide I couldnt get into the film as too busy trying to read subtitles so most of it passed me by, it shows the gulf between east and west when it comes to action and scifi films but at end of the day you be the judge but dont pay lots for the film better rented than brought

This is one of those films your going to have to watch more than once to fill in the blank spaces, its not a massive budget film but theres not many things about the film to have a go at. The fight scenes are very professional with a neat edge to it. I really like the special effects, thats what makes everything stand out.

That's all you need to know, just stay away from this!!My head felt like an overdone baked potato, theres no soundtrack to speak of other than a beat or two every twenty minutes, the acting is godawful, the plot is mush and non-existant but it does have some cool special effects. Other than that it's in Russian and the film's horrible, don't even try to watch it. I'm doing you a favour!!!!
