## Description

Product Description

2014 release, the second album from the Los Angeles Metal outfit. Volumes are a collection of five young musicians coming from a wide array of musical backgrounds, ranging from Jazz, Classical, Post-Rock to Rap and of course Metal. Volumes eclectic tastes blend together to forge a creative bond between several types of genres that are worlds apart. The combination of their efforts results in fusions between intricate patterns, melodies, and progressive, yet-not-to-be-overlooked-aggressive, straight to the point, Metal. This particular blend of musical styles strives to find a balance between chaos and tranquility.

    Got Djent?

Probably my favourite album from Volumes

    Until Hammersmith

*by D***R on 9 July 2016*

There is a lot of hate out there for this record. The appearance out of nowhere of clean vocals from Michael Barr, demonstrating a set of pipes that Tyler Carter of Issues would be proud of. Suddenly Volumes have gone from mixing with the DJent of Periphery to having songs with sound like they belong to the heavier end of Issues, Crown The Empire or Myke Terry era Bury Your Dead. It's a massive leap which will alienate some fans. That's not to say there aren't some older style songs on here. There are and they are brutal. The album is essentially 8 songs and 2 interludes, of which there are 4 old style and 4 new style. The album as a whole demonstrates storytelling ability and atmospheres, bordering on a concept album at times. Going from falling in love to being in love to breaking up. For me, it's solid and interesting in its Diversity and where Volumes previous efforts could be relentless at times this changes it up and keeps you coming back.

    Great album, disappointing length.

Both vocally and instrumentally this album is superb, but (after negating interludes) with only 8 tracks, it's hard to justify paying much for it. I love the album but would only recommend picking up the CD if you are a die hard fan of Volumes specifically or djent as a whole.
