Is this too big for a gym bag?

It is the perfect size for a gym bag. I'm traveling now and using it for small outings, but when I'm home I use as gym bag. It's one of best purchases I've made.

Will this bag fit standard jumper cables?

The dimensions of this bag is 19" x 9". If the cables can fit into this size, you should have no problem using this to carry cables. Also, please try ad keep the weight around 30 lbs and not more.

Could I fit a motorcycle helmet in this?

It might fit, but the bag will look out of shape.
