This takes over from a very old knife I keep at my allotment. I'm blown away by the versatility and wonder how long it will be before I compost it ( the fate of my last knife )...

I haven’t had this for long, but I work in a garden, so it’s a must have tool.It takes a good edge but will need a lot of sharpening with the supplied stone, as it will be in contact with soil, wood and whatever is in the ground. It’s a solid tool, but it’s early days and needs to smooth out in the next few weeks. The through tang handle will be strong enough but it may need a bit of sanding to soften the profile of the wood, which is a tiny bit angular from new.

I was nervous about trying this out but gave it a shot. It feels as it looks, ie like a knife and is not wide enough to pick up much soil or compost.It is easier to use for digging and loosening up soil. It feels and acts like a mini spade with a serrated edge for cutting where needed. I was able to dig up and loosen soil in my VegePod easily.The look and feel of a knife unnerves me a bit. I feel I have to be super cautious with this around in case of any accidents / mishaps. I gather that is why it comes with a protective cover.I accidentally left it out in mild rain and it got soaked on the wooden handle. Looks like I would need to waterproof it otherwise it won't last long.

This garden knife is very well-made, extremely sturdy, and impressively sharp. It feels comfortable in hand and is a versatile tool. The only drawback is the somewhat high price.

The media could not be loaded.  This is one of those items that you don’t know you need until you get one.I wonder how I ever managed without this Garden spade/knife.It’s perfect for weeding and its pointed edge is able to remove weeds and moss from in between block paving and at the edge of walls.It is absolutely brilliant for transplanting plants or removing them altogether.I used it to remove an old hebe plant that was well past its best. With this knife I was able to dig down deep into the soil all around the plant root ball. The serrated edge cut through the roots and I was able to easily lift the plant out of the soil.It comes with a useful protective leather sheath that makes it safe when storing or carrying it. There is also a sharpening block.This Garden Spade/ knife is perfect for any gardener and would make an excellent gift. I can’t recommend it enough.
