more of their exceptionally well-played classic rock sound
On their 6th full length studio album, this underrated Ohio band returns with more of their exceptionally well-played classic rock sound. This time, the band leans more heavily on melody & harmony, riding a hypnotic and familiar groove off into the sunset. Bluesy Southern rock riffs, funky beats, psychedelic pop melodies, a retro-relaxed attitude and some masterful songwriting all contribute to the overall quality here. Recalls bands like The James Gang, The Doobie Brothers, The Beatles, The Black Keys, Crosby Stills Nash & Young. “Alive and Well In Ohio” probably won’t capture the ears of the indie hipster crowd; it’s more concerned with the purity of its sound than how cool it is. It’s the kind of subtly seductive retro-rock that easily slides you back in time. Conditionally Recommended.

Death Magic Cookie....
....quite possibly one of the best song titles ever so had to be my headline. I have a few albums by this band & I honestly think they are very underrated. On this offering they start magically with the cookie song then 'what a Waste' which is a wonderful mash up of guitar rock & beautiful pop tunery. Ditto for next track 'Parachute' which in another universe inhabited by clones of me would be top of every chart. 'Need a Changin' is class. 'Evil Thoughts' is amazing and should be as famous as a Beatles song {maybe one day}. 'Rad Day' is mad. The album continues to be excellent but I must stop now {supper/medication ready}....Oh, Andy why no physical release for Plenum Castle?

Arrived scratched & damaged on the vinyl, looks as though a piece of sandpaper was used to smooth it out. I've returned a few vinyl discs back to Amazon recently, won't be buying anymore & will just keep this to refresh my mind about the lack of care that new vinyl seems to be lacking in nowadays.
