Impressive Sturdy Functional Product
This mailbox door replacement is designed especially for brick or other solid home mailbox structures where the mailbox is essentially cemented into the pillar, so that removing and replacing the entire mailbox is costly and quite a project. There are other regular mailbox door replacements that look exactly like a standard mailbox door. These are available on Amazon and on that company's website without too much difference in cost. However, for our particular regulation size mailbox (medium size), this attractive heavy duty door was only $10 more and made an enormous difference in appearance and solid construction. I did replace the small brass plated knob provided (not yet attached) with a larger stainless knob which matched those on cabinet doors in our home.A home handyman replaced the door for us. The instructions indicated that the existing mailbox should be cut off flush with the surface of the brick pillar. The handyman did not have the tools to do that. Instead, he removed the existing door and attached this door with several pop rivets through the horseshoe shaped rim. So far, so good, and may be more durable then using the two bolt holes inside the new door (to drill into the interior sides of the existing box). The door sticks out about an inch from the bricks, rather than the exterior rim sitting flush against the bricks, but aesthetically doesn't seem to make much of a difference from the front.I'm sure our mailman appreciates not having to prop the door closed while it hung from one hinge, and this door gives an upscale touch to the mailbox.

This Mailbox Looks Great!
The handle on my old mailbox had broken off and I was hesitant to replace it with the same type since I had already replaced it once before. I bought this Brick Mailbox Replacement Door because it had a different door latch mechanism and it looked nice and sturdy. I was not disappointed. The mailbox looks wonderful and appears to be made from a very tough material. My husband cut off the old mailbox down to the brick pretty easily; however, he couldn't quite do a good job screwing in the screws from the inside. So he put the screws in the front which is fine since they are hidden when the door is closed. The box is beautiful and closes nicely.

Love it!
Love it and was just what I needed. My old mailbox front door was so old and rusted, the mailman said I had to replace it as it was a hazard! I was nervous and didn't know what to do until I came across this! Perfect and easy to install. Thank you for a great product!

Well made, great fit, easy install
Extremely well made. Heavier than I thought it would be. A perfect fit for my freestanding brick mailbox. I used a Dremel blade to cut off the extending edge of the old box with the rusted/broken door hinge. After ensuring the right fit, I applied clear silicone caulk to the bottom of the old box and used plastic shims (HD) inside the box to wedge the sides and top snug. Then a bead of the caulk on the outside edge and it's very secure and looks terrific.

Easy to install and looks great.
With the right tools (angle grinder) this is an easy install and looks fantastic when completed. I did have to use about two tubes of silicone caulk to fill the gaps, but that was due to masonry irregularities. Very happy with how it looks.

Fantastic invention.
I siliconed around the edges. Drilled 2 holes into inside of brick and Put 2 screws, one on each side. strapped it into place. Took strap off after a day and it looks like a new mailbox.

it still looks great and preforms as advertised
Had to do some heavy concrete removal inside my older brick mailbox.. Thankfully, there is a big enough lip that even only able to insert it 2.5 inches, it still looks great and preforms as advertised.. My neighbor down the street replaced his with the same product on a newer brick mailbox and his fits flush. Also, if you don't fancy the gold knob that comes with, you can easily replace it with any type you wish...

This was a great and easy fix
This was a great and easy fix. I have only found one other replacement mailbox cover which was made out of the thin metal, the same type of metal (tin) used in the manufacturing of the cheapest made mailboxes. These mailboxes can be purchased for $20.00 but a replacement lid would cost $60.00. The better made mailbox replacement lid is exactly that, better made, thick, durable, and gives the appearance of an expensive mailbox. And yet this replacement cover was offered at a cheaper price than the cheap tin metal lid that only snaps in. Great product at a great price and was an easy fix. Thank you.
