Shockingly powerful, supremely portable
I used to own an old Ninja video recorder that cost an arm and a leg, and this bad boy rivals it in almost every way at a fraction of the cost. The main thing, of course, is its portability. It's just a small clamp that you could stick in your pocket when you walk out the door. It wouldn't be super comfortable, but it's do-able.Point two is the clarity of the picture. Your iPhone screen is so much better than all but the most expensive portable monitor, so it makes checking your video a lot easier on the eyes, especially if you're outdoors.Another thing is the power of the app it comes with. From LUTs to false color to focus peaking to anamorphic de-squeezing, this is as full featured as anything else on the market. And the one thing I didn't realize I wanted. You can record video independently of your camera if you like. In other words, if you're recording something and you want to make sure you have a duplicate recording just in case, you can have the app record as well, and it will take the footage coming from your camera and save it to your phone simultaneously. The only thing is that the footage saved to your phone will be at 1080 max, even though you may be recording 4k on your camera.Another possible issue is that you might get a phone call while you're recording. It won't mess up your footage, but it is disconcerting. But really, just put your phone on airplane mode when you're recording. You should be doing that anyway.Oh, one last thing. Get the black version. I have the white one, and the power and battery strength lights are pretty faint against the white. I think they'll be easier to see when contrasted against black.
