Q: Will this switch change fan speeds? I replaced the switch on a Hunter fan and it seems like the middle and low speeds are slower. Is that possible?

It will be tighter then the original. That said, Not all 3-speed fans are wired the same. Check the schematic before you buy. This switch sequentially connects the "L" contact with "1" then "2" then "3". not all fans work this way. Even within the Hunter or Hampton Bay brands. Do your homework. If you do think it's a fit, do the repair before 30 days expire so that if it doesn't work, you can send it back for a refund. If the switch is still in one piece and not obviously broken (missing chain), check the capacitor to make sure that isn't that isn't what's causing the failure. Do not do any of the following if you are not at home with high voltage electricity. Disconnect power at the breaker or fuse. If sequentially wired, Connect "L" to one of the other numbered wires 1 being low speed, 3 is high speed. if the lower speed connections work, you can assume the capacitor is good. I had two bad fans, one had a bad capacitor, the other had a bad motor. I waited too long to do the work and lost the return window.

Yes it worked perfectly on our Hunter fan! It was easy to replace the non working switch Saved replacing the fan !!
